Idaho mask burning to protest mask mandates

'Mask burning' event protests mask mandates :: WRAL.com

I remember when JB was running for the presidency saying, if elected he'd make a national mask mandate. That would be a four year long ordeal. And not as an inconvenience but as a sign of patriotism.

Reminds me of Hermann Goering and his observation as to how easy it is to get people to follow faithless evil leaders.

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peace makers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Remember at the beginning of the mask mandate? People who refused to wear them were the target of "mask shaming". Claimed to be putting everyone at risk, where is your patriotism, and such rebukes.

    The new Fascism.

Their sin is like a jail cell, except it is all nice and comfy and there doesn't seem to be any reason to leave. The door's wide open. Till one day time runs out and the door slams shut and suddenly it's too late to get out."

We should stop wearing masks - the flu season is just about over, and sunshine is more plentiful (Vit D production), and most of us who haven't been isolating either have herd immunity, or had covid. It's time to resume normal life and let "nature" take its course. We've also seen that unless one has co-morbidities, Covid isn't the killer we all thought it might be a year ago.

I rarely wear a mask. This morning I have an annual physical and will out of necessity wear one. It's ridiculous because masks didn't have much effect if any. It's a prop that politicians give us to be sure they are doing something to help....at best. At worst, it is a compliance test and conditioning us for the next big restriction of freedom.

Oh man, I love the idea of a mask burning
I think I may try that here

I know people who isolated for months, one guy didn't see his mom who lived in the same metro (hous.) for 6mo. Siblings for even longer, sheltered in place, food & grocery deliveries, double mask, paranoid for his life, and still got it!

When my mom was a child in the mid 1920's in Fla. she caught diphtheria. She spent her quarantine in the home of a lady who took in diphtheria patients. All of mom's belongings, clothes, toys, everything had to be burned to prevent the spread to the rest of the family. I suppose if Grandaddy had felt his rights were being eroded they could have left three little ones buried there.

I remember that vaccine from the early 60's childhood days.

Yeah, they still give it and also boosters. T-dap. I hate wearing the mask, I can't breathe. I hide my face and pull it away now and then.

I love the sarcastic rebuff of "mask mandates" as when someone created a Halloween mask to appear as the Covid-19 virus itself.
Imagine wearing that to the grocery store. Go to the Deli first.

There are at least 4 states now that have either lifted their mask mandate or have done so and have also lifted the lock down. Now everyone goes back to normal including businesses.
My blue home state won't be one of those.

Be subversive. I'm pushing back. I haven't worn a mask in a grocery store for 3 months now. No one has said a word to me. The first time I went in without a mask I was extremely nervous and afraid of what would be said to me. No one said not a word, not even the cashier, no one in the store. The second time I went in, I was still nervous, but not so bad. Now, it's no big deal. I just walk in, and not just in my regular grocery store, either.

Now Kroger - they are "Mask Nazis" and I have just chosen not to shop there. There are plenty of places that are truly free.

We have a few restaurants that have operated at full capacity and even the staff don't have masks on. So refreshing to be in places where life is like it was pre-covid.

Our church has been open this whole time as well, and masks are not required, we are not social distancing, and we are bursting at the seams. We do have a mandate for households to come in one car whenever possible because we've maxed out our parking. A good problem to have!

While I disagree that mask wearing has not helped, I believe they should only be worn when social distancing is difficult in an area that has active covid infections. I live in the city of Baltimore. I wear my mask without complaint when I'm at the store, the doctor's office, etc. I do not wear a mask when I'm outside my home (even though my mayor has mandated wearing them outside your house) I'll wear a scarf around my neck when I go for a walk, if I pass someone, I'll lift it up to cover my mouth and nose (and honestly, I like wearing it when it's cold outside anyway!) I think both sides of the mask issue have been unreasonable. I'm coming from working with medical professionals, doctors, nurses and research scientists. I follow their lead. Maryland has just dropped the state mandated covid rules (local jurisdictions are free to apply more or drop some themselves) I also just had my first vaccination yesterday. I know that's not everyone's choice, and that's ok. I would never agree with mandated vaccinations, but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel. (No! Not THAT light!) :lol
