Flu has virtually disappeared from US

NEW YORK — February is usually the peak of flu season, with doctors' offices and hospitals packed with suffering patients. But not this year.

Flu has virtually disappeared from the U.S., with reports coming in at far lower levels than anything seen in decades.

Experts say that measures put in place to fend off the coronavirus — mask-wearing, social distancing and virtual schooling — were a big factor in preventing a feared "twindemic" of flu and COVID-19. A push to get more people vaccinated against flu probably helped, too, as did fewer people traveling, they say.

Another possible explanation: The coronavirus has essentially muscled aside flu and other bugs that are more common in the fall and winter. Scientists don't fully understand the mechanism behind that...

Hmmm, must of been that successful flu vaccine last fall.

Well duh! Everything closed down, temperatures being taken before you can enter a doctors office, masks, hand washing and 6 foot distancing are overkill for preventing flu.

........... and many people who are having "symptoms" simply don't go to the dr because they don't want to get tested. There's no way on this green earth I'll go get a covid test for any reason... symptoms or "asymtomatic." And getting tested asympomatic is the absolute dummest thing ever

Whether it's flu, covid or a hot dog or a mango, they'll all test positive for "the covid."

I've had 2 negative tests. I'm due for another test (periodically to be able to go to my office) and I anticipate another negative.

Since hospitals were getting extra money for covid patients and because there were probably a lot of false positives in the early testings odds are a lot of the flus were diagnosed as covid.
