https://www.thisamericanlife.org/304/heretics from 2005. I think it was moreso showing Carlton's personal struggle. I didn't get the sense that there was an agenda by Netflix/the creators of the movie. What I do think is that Carlton is using this movie to gain more attention to himself, and like Pente said maybe trying to test the waters for a "comeback" by way of Azusa or whatever..
If he does, there would be a need for a return to what he used to believe. This will need a public addressing of his repentance of the inclusionist teachings. I cant imagine any other way unless he is trying to go easy and trying to save face or maybe bring his stream into where he used to be. I wish he could repent.

Then again, I read where he was very well pleased with the outcome. Maybe he was partly referring to the acting and overall outcome, but also it may garner sympathy for his cause? Movies have a way of swaying people’s opinions thru emotion. I don’t think he would have liked the movie if it wasnt slanted in his favor even if the acting was good etc

Pente did you watch it? He's maybe hoping it will sway people (conflicted or nominal Christians) into considering inclusion/universalism, perhaps. OTOH, the ending of the movie shows him speaking at what was supposed to be Flunder's church (by they way they appeared- a mix of gay, feminist, other religious backgrounds)--don't want to give too much away.

Gina's character was played by the daughter of former Minnesota Vikings football player Ahmed Rashad & Cosby actress Phylicia Rashad.
When I first saw her, I knew immediately I'd seen her before, but couldn't recall where; so I looked her up and it came back to me, it was the film remake of Steel Magnolias. She played Queen Latifa's character's daughter (the role originated by Julia Roberts).
She's a better actress than her mother IMHO
Arelia--the restaurant where Oral and Carlton met looked like that IHOP at 71st and Lewis..
Yes, now that I think of it, could be!

Universalism is an emotional humanistic defining of God....essentially bringing God down to our level....I suspect many will be swayed by it...Even the ending that a review said shows his political leaning.....

I did too...every believer hears it, I believe. And the ones not rooted in the scriptures and submissive to the Spirit are easily swayed by it...it is humanism....human reasoning...ascribing human emotions to a Holy and Righteous and Just God....
That voice is strong and goes to the core of loving emotions in the soul. At the time I heard it I was just starting to grasp the power of scripture in WOF teaching...I had passed the point of accepting ownership of the concept that the Spirit and the Word never disagree and that the word is one of the 2 witnesses I had to trust to discern truth. When I heard that lie regarding homosexuals that I knew and had love for I hit a faith crisis....I was not willing to release the faith in the 2 witnesses but knew something was missing in my understanding..
The third option, the revelation of truth rescued me. That third option was the heart of the father toward the lost along with the absoluteness of only 1 way...God said, I love them too but to reject My Word is to reject Me....
I suspect there are many who already lean to humanist thinking, not settling that scripture is absolute and not just scripture but scripture and the Spirit who always agree....and that last scene described above will actually make sense to them, not cause aversion....
