Saw the film "Hidden Figures" this evening, and I was very touched by these women's story. Now I need to read the book.
It's the kind of film I would take my children (ages 12-19) to see. Very well done, and only one mild expletive.
Good acting by Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson, and of course, Kevin Costner was awesome as usual (and still handsome as all get out ). Two thumbs up!
I'm not, nor was I ever a fan of Janelle Monae. And after her negative comments about Kim Burrell because she preached against homosexuality, I was a little reluctant to see this film. However, I know that I can't boycott every film because of one or two actors, so I found the cheapest ticket I could find ($3.50).

Is the name of the book, the same as the name of the film?

Yes. The book gives the accounts of four women, the film only three. Guess they were trying to keep it as short as possible. The film is over 2 hours.
"Starting in World War II and moving through to the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Space Race, Hidden Figures follows the interwoven accounts of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden, four African American women who participated in some of NASA's greatest successes."

I'd love to see this movie but will most likely wait till it's on PPV.
And I have to say that in all the years I've known you, I can't remember you mentioning that you have kids! Huge surprise for me to see you say you'd take your children to this movie. Mind you, I also don't read every single thread and comment on the forum, so maybe you have and I just missed it.
