    My grandmother had one like this hanging in her kitchen...we kids drank from the kitchen sink faucet with it...we all shared it....

    Yes, I to drank from a dipper. I had several relatives that had wells. Often it was not a long handled one but just a tin cup tied to the pump.

    Everyone was 3 foot tall back then. Everything is normal, including the horses.
