I think New Jersey is the only state that prohibits self-service. Every few years, the legislature debates a proposal to rescind this restriction but it never goes through.

It's annoying when there are 6 pumps, each with a waiting vehicle, and only one attendant.

Along these lines (decline of civility):

    1) Excuse me.

    2) Addressing an elder as Sir or Mam.

It's against the law here in Oregon. I love it. Especially on cold, rainy days. Hope it never changes.

Down here in the south, many people, including myself, address people 'yes sir' and 'yes ma'am' even with people younger than us. I address everyone that way when talking to them if asked a yes or no question.

    Master Bedroom...

Yep, I've noticed that ALL of the HGTV and other Home Improvement programs now refer to them as "Owners Suites" "Primary Bedrooms" or "Main Bedrooms"

Guess the word "Master" triggered someone's Slavery Era PTSD?

Really? I give up, I don't know how to be politically correct anymore.

They really should bring that one back... or will it somehow offend someone somewhere?

Well here in the east it was always '11 o'clock.'

We still say 'master'. But never thought of what you said. I'm sure you're 110% correct.

We were in the middle of a remodel last year - the contractor was going to start the week the lockdown started. Anyway, long story short, when the city inspector came over to review the progress, he refused to call it the MASTER bedroom. I just kept calling it the MASTER bedroom, and he called it the "main" bedroom.
