The key now is to not let the weight creep back up.
If he loves his workouts then he will be able to keep up with that and if he does those with consistency and doesn't plain overeat then he should be okay.

I lost 32 pounds last year (2014), ... then over Thanksgiving and Christmas, gained about 8 back. I have now lost that.
I have severely restricted my food intake and speed walk 5 miles a day (Monday through Friday), twenty-five miles a week. With the Lord's help, I have been about to consistently walk twenty-five miles a week for over 25 months now. First, the speed walking was to lose weight, now, with changing metabolism, it is necessary to maintain weight where I want it to be.

I was thinking that Cardinal TT's inscription on the photo is positionally correct to a Christian. Maybe that is what you meant, if I interpret you correctly, that the new man came out by "eating" the Word who is a reflection of him. Or something like that.
There is liberty from excess weight in the provision for health in the new covenant. With many people all it takes is some self discipline and effort, with some it takes actual healing.
