Thread: For Krys...Eating Alkaline

  1. #11
Sure, absolutely. I just learned the hard way that eating highly acidic foods does make tumors grow. That's not me just taking a guess, that's me living it out. But a bite or two, here and there won't do much. But for normal people, it's about balance. If you eat 80% alkaline, you will be fine.

There's so many things on the market now that make it easy to eat high alkaline. There's lentil/quinoa pasta that tastes great, for example. I eat that.

The reason why I put up the link to the Rawtarian site is specifically because her stuff is amazing and so easy. To be honest, what I miss the LEAST is dessert stuff or sugar/sweet stuff. I literally NEVER EVER crave that. Ever. I do crave pizza or cheeseburgers and man do I miss biscuits, but that's not like I'm being driven up the wall. It's just something I think about every now and then. But what is so funny is that I do make rich chocolate stuff now and use stevia drops mostly. If I take a small taste bite of something chocolate (hubby got a chocolate cookie from Panera), it doesn't taste near as good as what I make because of the raw ingredients I use (ground cocoa nibs, raw cocoa powder, ground vanilla beans, etc....). It doesn't taste as rich or chocoloaty. Much of the stuff on the Rawtarian site literally takes a few minutes to prepare. The sweet/dessert stuff she has is out of this world. To be honest, once I'm in remission, I really have no plans to EVER go back to the way I was eating. I'll have pizza or cheeseburgers if I want, so don't get me wrong. But I'll definitely eat mostly vegan. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, I actually had weeks where I ate mostly raw, did a lot of juicing, and ate vegetarian/vegan. So for me, it's not that big a deal.

You have to understand Krys...once your body is really fueled by vitamins and minerals from real food, the cravings really go away. Plus, since your body is truly being fueled by real food, everything totally adjusts itself to that reality. It's hard to explain, but now when I hear vegans talk about it, I totally get it.

On a good note I do love the top alkaline food, just cut up a seedless one today. :)

Try the flavored drops, then. They really are great. All of them have very high ratings on Amazon.

I noticed that especially with sugars. After eliminating the sugar treats for a while the cravings went away.

Exactly! Fruit now completely satisfies my sweet tooth. I don't think I ever, literally, want a sugary dessert. Ever. Of course I make my own stuff as I said, but that's more for chocolate than sugar.

Also, I posted about that soft-serve type of mock "ice cream" I make in my NutriNinja, and that is awesome as well.

I made a berry "pie" on July 4th for friends we had over and they were blown away by how good it was....no sugar, no gluten/grains, no dairy, etc.....

Real food really does taste amazing.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Krys. You can start out taking 1/2 a teaspoon of aluminum-free baking soda in some water (or lemon water...lemons are very alkaline). Work up to either a whole teaspoon at once, or divided into two doses. That really makes the body alkaline and of course, it's easy and cheap to do.

I get a lot of my raw stuff on Amazon because it's a lot cheaper and I found a storefront called The Raw World, and when I got their product, they included an insert thanking me for my purchase, giving me info and coupons for their products, etc...and I found out that the wife of the ownership team had lost like 150 pounds going raw vegan. I've also read where a lot of people unintentionally lost weight (people like Papa Brett), by really just adding one Nutribullet "shake" a day (PB lost weight by just going alkaline).

    It really is important.

I put a little lemon in almost all my drinking water. It makes it more palatable for the stomach. For some people drinking much water can actually make their stomach feel upset. Adding a little lemon usually helps the stomach to absorb it.

When wanting a little sweet snack I would have a date or two or a little dried fruit.

Banana smoothies with whatever berries we have around are a good ice cream substitute. I never add any dairy to smoothie at all.

Are you guys coffee drinkers? I posted this in another thread and then thought of this thread:

I saw that, but then what do I do with the rest of the egg?

I eliminated coffee and tea for along time, but I now have a little coffee once in a while.

Nope. No coffee for me...at least not right now. And no, I don't miss it at all. I do drink matcha, though.....not as a tea, just in the water I drink when I first wake up. Generally speaking, I do not "need" a caffeine spike to get me going. But matcha has numerable health benefits, and it really does give you a great "alertness" and sustained energy. It's fantastic. It is expensive, but I do get the next grade down (the type of matcha used in food in Japan), and not what they call the "ceremonial" tea, which is amazing, but just costs too much. A quote explaining what matcha is:

It’s a special form of green tea

Matcha literally means “powdered tea.” When you order traditional green tea, components from the leaves get infused into the hot water, then the leaves are discarded. With matcha, you’re drinking the actual leaves, which have been finely powdered and made into a solution, traditionally by mixing about a teaspoon of matcha powder with a third cup of hot water (heated to less than a boil), which is then whisked with a bamboo brush until it froths.

Unlike traditional green tea, matcha preparation involves covering the tea plants with shade cloths before they’re harvested. This triggers the growth of leaves with better flavor and texture, which are hand selected, steamed briefly to stop fermentation, then dried and aged in cold storage, which deepens the flavor. The dried leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder.
    It offers health benefits

Because matcha is made from high-quality tea, and the whole leaves are ingested, it’s a more potent source of nutrients than steeped green tea. In addition to providing small amounts of vitamins and minerals, matcha is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, which have been tied to protection against heart disease and cancer, as well as better blood sugar regulation, blood pressure reduction, and anti-aging. Another polyphenol in matcha called EGCG has been shown in research to boost metabolism, and slow or halt the growth of cancer cells.

There is a product called Coffee Tamer that I used to buy. I can't find it in the store anymore but it can be bought online and is awesome. It is a natural product that tames the acid in coffee, there is not taste difference in the coffee.
