    WW

I finally joined Weight Watchers, or WW. I didn't want to do it, I kept telling myself that I didn't need to pay someone to keep me accountable. Apparently I haven't done such a great job at keeping myself accountable. That said....I've been on now for one solid week, I've been following the point system and doing great! I gained 10 pounds over the past 2 months, due to the holidays, and self inflicted relationship stress, but I've managed to lose 7 of those 10 pounds, then I'm going to take out the rest! Feeling empowered (sorry to use such an overused word, but that's really how I'm feeling) and like this is something I can really do. I still eat the things I love, i.e. this morning I had an orange, a piece of toast with my chovocado dip on it, and a cup of coffee with half a cup of dark chocolate almond milk. I am satisfied, and not craving carbs. It does help that I committed to quitting soft drinks, but there is no way I would have done that on my own. I frequently need a little help to make better decisions.

    so....go me!!!!

It's a great idea to hold oneself accountable to staying or getting under a certain weight. Mine is 200 pounds. I've kept my weight under that level for about 99% of my adult life. Right now it's about 190 which is a weight I feel very comfortable with.

Great job, Lista! I LIKE WW and have had great success with it when I’ve committed myself to it. Their point system has changed since I last attended but it is so easy to follow!

    Cheering you on from Canada!!!

Good going Lista! Carbs are poison!

I've never been overweight but had a few extra pounds, decided to try keto, wow, losing 5 lbs a week. I never knew how nasty carbs were. More energy, better sleep, no energy swings or carb comas.

Thanks guys! I went to an Irish pub the other night with a friend and I made WAY better choices than I would have without my buddy WW sitting with me. I turned on the app before my friend got there so I could put in various menu items. Obviously, anything fried was out. (Though, I do intend to go back on a special occasion and order the shrimp and grits. ) ordered my seared ahi tuna and was a happy camper.

Last night I ate Paella and meat which I enjoy but this morning I had put on weight - they use way too much oil and fat

I put on 20 lbs over the holidays and started back on kept (more like carnivore) and lost 19 lbs of the 20 in the first 6 days. Obviously that's a lot of water weight, but keto is the way to go.

Good job! But you do know an orange and toast are carbs, right? Orange is pure sugar, and obviously bread is carbs, but at least as long as you don't eat too much. I try to keep my carbs under 30 when doing keto (even lower lately since I'm doing more carnivore) and not that your'e doing keto per se, as long as what I eat fits within that 30 carbs I'll eat it. So I'll eat a piece of bread most of the time by making a half a sandwich with it, etc. I rarely do sugar while on it though, sugar just not being good for you period if eaten a lot.

Nothing wrong with oil and fat in the right context, the right context being no or little carbs. I eat all the fat I want and lose weight. Paella is rice based which is high carb. I suspect it was just added weight due to the weight of the food and water retention due to the carbs. Of course if you eat it regularly it will turn into true added weight.
