I lost 50 lbs from Aug to Nov last year eating one meal a day and pretty strict low carb, and between Thanksgiving and now put all of it back on. Trying to get motivated again. :)
There's quite a few people out there that sustain that lifestyle if they're telling the truth. Lost tons of weight on it too. Google OMAD. On youtube too.
You're basically doing a 23 hour fast ever day. I will say this, after about the second week of it a spirit of prayer really kicked into my life because of the 'fasting'. It was very good for me spiritually as well as physically.

I think it has something to do with wrong thinking. People motivate themselves for "the big fight". Which involves applying oneself zealously to doing something very unusual. Which could amount to eating very little, eating only unusual foods or working out enormously. When that part is over, it's sort of over and they go back to doing whatever they feel like, which quickly puts the weight back on. The problem isn't really that they go back to doing whatever they feel like, however. The problem is how long they keep doing that. If you lose 50 pounds then it takes a while of doing whatever you feel like before the 50 pounds are back. Unless you try really hard to regain it as quickly as possible. You'll notice when 10 or 20 pounds have been regained. That is when you should think about whether it would be a good idea to put up a "small fight" and lose those 10-20 pounds again instead of creating trouble for yourself by gaining weight until all the 50 pounds are back again so that you will now have to put up that "big fight" again. On average that will keep you more overweight and it will make the lowest weight more uncomfortable too. My wake up call is at only a few pounds and that works very well.
