    Healthy living

I'm generally NOT a tinfoil hat person, but I have been trying to get as many chemicals out of my life as I possibly can. I'm replacing my commercial cleaners with homemade items as they run out. (I also hate to waste money ) The only processed food we eat now is when we run out of time, and have to eat fastfood. (I'm on a mission to remove that as well) etc.

Are any of you doing anything to limit the chemical load in your homes/lives? (catchy, I know you are)

    Any tips...ideas...suggestions...?

I've tried to go as natural in my food as I can, and try not to eat processed unless I have to, which is normally eating out. Went as organic as I could in my food so far. Organic meat, eggs, butter mainly since I do low carb. Sometime the organic vegetables when available like cauliflower (like to make cauliflower 'mashed potatoes' out of it) etc. The cleaners and stuff not really on my radar.

I've been looking at lists of which veggies and fruits you definitely want to get organic, and which are not nearly as important. Anything with a natural shell i.e. corn or coconuts, don't necessarily need to be organic.

    Yeah, I've seen that too.

Also I haven't had any 'intentional' sugar since February. Meaning a food may have it in it and I don't know about it, especially eating out. But no desserts, etc.

I grow organic. With my fruit trees especially I don't like to use pesticides so I mix more natural or milder things to spray on them. I've found that a little lemon dish soap and any mouthwash that contains eucalyptus oil mixed with water in a gallon sprayer will deter most bugs as well as fungi that try to attack the leaves or the fruit.

That combination also works well when you want to keep mosquitoes away too. Just spray your lawn area, bushes, etc when you're having an outdoor gathering and it keeps them away for a couple of hours or so. I doesn't last as long as chemical sprays but at least its not toxic.

With all that crossfit training you're doing it shouldn't be too hard to lose and then maintain a leaner weight.

OMgoodness! You have to eat organic corn! Pretty much ALLLLLLLLLL corn is GMO if it's not organic.

Go to this link to see the pics of gmo-fed rats!

Well, I've just been doing most things "natural" for probably 15-20 years, so this isn't new to me (with the exception of some cosmetics). So in all that time, I would say that a couple of cleaning products that I honestly think are absolutely the best, and that includes the garbage, synthetic stuff. I *LOVE* Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner. That stuff is amazing. I use their dish soap, too. I try to use Arm & Hammer laundry detergent with oxy clean. I do enjoy using baking soda/vinegar mixture for a ton of cleaning too. The absolute best carpet cleaner I've ever found is all natural and amazing! I get it at HSN. It's 100 times better than oxy clean, Bissell, etc...for getting stains out of carpet. It's called Shock It Clean.

I do still use Scrubbing Bubbles on the bathtub because I just havn't found anything that works better at removing soap scum. For the sink and stuff, I do use natural stuff like Seventh Generation or Meyers stuff.

I've always used aluminum free deoderant like Tom's of Maine and I use Jason's toothpaste (Tom's uses silica, which can remove enamel on teeth). Still not completely free of all chemicals in terms of skincare and makeup but I do LOVE natural skin cleanser and I make my own scrubs (body and face). I am addicted to Shea Moisture brand and IMO, their shampoo, conditioner, and body care is the best on the market, and all-natural. I also adore Shea Terra brand, and Angelina Jolie uses that brand too.
