So are you in shape and had been exercising regularly when this happened?

I'm thinking that the doc is perhaps a little bit quick to dismiss the problem as simply hormonal. I can remember how awful going for a jog at a slow pace felt when I was in my worst shape when I was in my early thirties. By now I thrive on it, including lifting heavy weights.

That must be a Holy Roller, it can roll faster on a treadmill than anything.

I was cruising at 8 mph on my last interval on the treadmill today and after 3 minutes I was at 180 bpm so I decided to crank it up to 9.3 mph for the last minute. At the end my legs were stiffening up a little bit and my heart rate was up to 189. So I reckon my max heart rate must be about 200.
