    Thank you in advance,.
I'm not sure I can answer that... Keep taking the drug, but slowly wean off. This is how I did it as I posted in #24 of this thread:

I am finally OFF the prescription PPI (proton pump inhibitor/acid blocker)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I alternated between the PPI and Zantac for about 2 months and then replaced Zantac with apple cider vinegar for probably only about a week and now, I'm just doing the apple cider vinegar, a TBSP mixed in a small glass of water 2-3, even 4x a day, followed by about a half tsp of raw honey, to kill the taste of the ACV.

It's working really well... I mean REALLY well... the last time I tried to do this without the ACV, the rebound reflux was uncontrollable and I ended up going back on the PPI.

I'm still getting a little heartburn, depending on what I've eaten, so I'll just pop a TUMS if I'm away from home, or take some more ACV if I'm home.

I thank everyone for their input, experience and advice. I feel like I won a battle.
I got a lot of my information on how other people did it by googling and reading on health forums.

John, here on this forum has been very helpful, as were others. I think that without John, I never would have gone to the ACV. I think if I were you, as nasty as the liquid ACV is, I would use the liquid and not tablets.

    after some thought ...

I think the general rule is that heartburn/acid reflux as they call it is from not enough acid, even when you eat something like an orange that has citric acid... I THINK, and this is my opinion, that it's still not enough acid.

If you've purchased the ACV tablets, then take them. Maybe a couple with each meal? Not sure of the dosage.

I haven't asked how long you were on the meds. The longer you're on them, the harder it is to get off. I was on for several years. I still get heartburn with certain foods and will pop a Zantac, but overall, I don't get much heartburn anymore. I still have a jug of ACV on the kitchen counter. I find it's better for me to take it once a day with a meal.

    AJ,

Thank you. I have only been taking them for about 3 weeks. But I am tired of taking pills. A pill for this, a pill for that. I hate it.

I haven't purchased anything yet. But I am not a fan of apple juice, although I enjoy apples. So a pill form might be better and perhaps healthier for me. As I could possibly vomit if I drink the ACV. I get it, it's another pill. But this sounds like a much better alternative.
