oops... didn't read this before I answered your other post. Sorry about that.
Not being able to smell things really does suck.

It really, really does. Some smells I "remember" or I can imagine what they smell like, but that's been fading as well. I definitely cannot smell spoiled milk, a poopy diaper or gas leak. I've asked several doctors if there is anything that could be done, they don't think so, but then they really don't look into it. I get what you're saying about salt when you're limited to only what you can taste on your tongue. I think that's why I have such an addiction to sugar. It's hard when you are limited to salt, sweet, sour and bitter!

I've posted in the past how I'm pretty sure the original covid tried to mess with me back in January 2020 and then probably during this past spring too but I never did lose the sense of smell or taste although it doesn't seem to be as strong as it should be. I've also had a few occasions where I get strange whiffs of things that aren't there, sometimes cleaning products, sometimes flowers, sometimes rotten eggs or even things that I can't identify, apparently it's not uncommon and is called phantom smells.

Anyway, I saw the video I posted in the original post yesterday and wondered if it was just a spoof so I did a search and apparently it's a real thing to get your olfactory nerves back in order. Here's another video on it and the comment section is full of testimonials. Susan it might be worth a try.

As her main form of treatment, the patient requested dietary interventions and recommendations instead of supplementation, which she feared would be expensive. She was prescribed ground raw organic pumpkin seeds (2 tablespoons per day) and was instructed to add this to any meal she wished.

When the patient returned the following month, she was excited to announce that her sense of smell had recovered by 20% to 30% in her estimation. She could once again smell peppermint and peanut butter and was thrilled to have the sense of smell back in her life. Empowered by this quick improvement, she opted to continue with the regimen.

I lost my sense of smell the first time. It came back about a month later. I suffered significant damage to my lungs too and that took more than a year to recover. Actually, I still have some problems walking briskly or up hill. But then, that may come from being old and fat.

My wife and I simutaneously caught covid, neither of us lost senses of taste or smell. Fever never went over 100. My wife has asthma and I am Type 1 diabetic. She was tired for 3 weeks and I felt exhaustion for 10 days. This was mid-Nov 2020 during Michigan's firearm deer season and was deer hunting through most of it.
