    Storage Bench - Epoxy Fill

Made a storage chest/bench. I decided to go a bit hippy with the lid.

Took some scrap plywood, glue edged two pieces and hit it with an angle grinder.

Poured some epoxy resin mixed with mica.

    Did get a visitor...

Fortunately it hit the resin before it started to set, so I got it off but the bee didn't make it.

    How it works..

    All good.

    Storage Bench - Epoxy Fill-20190411_103636-jpg

Hit the bottom with linseed oil.

    Storage Bench - Epoxy Fill-20190411_104123-jpg

Sand it again, prepare for top coat.

Get it level, epoxy self levels so surface should be as flat as possible.

Cabinet making is fun, you can do some neat things once you get the hang of it. It's probably going to be a lost art soon as most of the stuff nowadays is made via CNC, they just plop a sheet of MDF down and hit the on switch. The machine cuts all the panels, drills holes, etc, you just assemble it. I challenged myself a few years back and decided to do my own kitchen cabinets .. using a circular saw. I wasn't really impressed with what the cabinet people were offering. I think they are more or less installers not cabinet makers, they send the measurements to the guy/gal with a CNC, the CNC does it thing and then they install them. My next door neighbor has a kitchen remodeling company and thought I was crazy to attempt the project but he was impressed with the finished product. If you want cool stuff, you have to do it yourself. Everything today is Wally Worldish.

Thank you AJ! However, another another lesson was learned. When making an outdoor catchall storage bench for tools do not make it too pretty or it will get "re-purposed/hijacked". My "tool box" will now reside in the dining room. OK, off to get more wood, I'll have to ugly up the next one.

Going slow on the carbs. I introduced carb portions for dinner only, sleeping better now but yeah, I do want to avoid the carb comas that I used to experience.
