Do you buy an extended warranty when you purchase a vehicle?
I used to barter in a bumper to bumper extended warranty whenever I purchased a newer used vehicle. Then when I purchased a brand new vehicle six years ago I was given a good price on a 10 year/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty so I decided to buy it.
Glad I did because I used it this week on some front end work I needed done and since there's only one deductible no matter how many different issues you bring it in for I also had them look at a power window that was starting to glitch a bit.
I lost my vehicle for a couple of days but both issues got fixed and the warranty has paid for itself and I still have four years left. :)

Vehicles, we never buy new, so that's a non issue. Also, I put on a minimum of 30-40K per year. I would mile out a new vehicle LONG before the 10 yrs rolled around. I bought a 2007 Nitro in June/14 with 78,000K (48,500M) on it. It's now sitting at over 116,000K.
Everything else, never. Dave Ramsey's advice on purchasing extended warranty is that it's rarely, probably never, worth the money... best to keep your money and face repairs when they come. Actually, I think he advises against buying new vehicles unless you can pay cash.

Where in the world do you go? That's like going around the world three times.
Yeah, an extended warranty wouldn't work for you but I'm mostly under 12,000 miles per year so it usually works out to be a good deal for me.

LOL...my previous 'new' vehicle was bought in '85, in between that one and my current one I had two 'newer' mini-vans, I try to take good care of my vehicles and keep them around a long time before I move on to something newer.
Actually while this one was bought new I did get it during an inventory clearance sale and I bought it just before Obama's 'cash for clunkers' program came out so I wondered if I had waited would I have gotten a better deal. The answer was nope, I actually saved a couple of thousand more over what cash for clunkers would have offered.
...and as an epilogue to that story, if I had went with the clunker program my good working but older mini van would have been destroyed. So flash forward to a couple of months ago when I go to my local Sherwin-Williams store for some paint and I see what appears to be my old vehicle (even the 'fish' on the back) in the parking lot.
I went in and there were no customers so I asked an employee who's van it was...long story but it was his and it WAS my old one that I had traded in! We traced the history and it had wound up in several cities but came back to my neighborhood and even tho it had some work done it was still doing good. :)

I dunno........ we live 40K/25 miles away from the city. We go to church there, have our appointments there, yada, yada... then there are the longer trips... we went to Idaho last fall... DD and her husband and MY grandkids live 4 hours away. I go to conferences within driving range, 2.5-5 hours away. And this is hiway driving at about 125KPH (75MPH) .... Doesn't matter where I go or what I do, I have to drive 25 or more miles to do it.
PS ........ I did some editing (mine and yours)... I had some of the numbers wrong, but we still put on a lot of km.
40,000KM=25,000miles/year

Ahh, we'll that's a lot better. For those who missed it her original post said she drove a minimum of 60,000 - 70,000 miles per year!
