Thankfully, central Ok doesn't get ice storms like this very often. Southeastern Ok almost always has ice storms rather than snow. There was significant tree damage in our area.
I great up in a mobile home out in the rurals on a county main road. Our first winter in that 12x60, in Jan '71 we were hit with a tremendous blizzard that snowed us in for over a week, no power, the service trucks couldn't make it out to us. My dad was prepared like the young country boy he was. He put up a blanket partition, opened the oven door to the propane kitchen range and brought out a camping lantern to assist our oil lamps. The winds shook the trailer and rattled the windows for days. That first night my dad rescued several people from cars immobilized out front with our snowmobiles. Cars were buried on the road for days. We had to force the front door open. I will never forget (I was 13) hearing the big county Oshkosh V-plow trying furiously to gain open road for the big snowblower to follow up.

    Life is an adventure.

Our power was out this morning from about 4-10am or so from the hurricane coming up through Atlanta.

When we moved back to Atlanta in Jan '14 we had an ice storm and our power was out 3 days. It was freezing. Mrs fuego's parents power came back on before hours so we went up there to wait it out.

Be careful with those generators. A friend of mine who pastors in Lake Charles lost an entire family of 5 due to carbon dioxide poisoning after that last hurricane

That was incredibly tragic. Any fuel burning heat source needs ventilation, even propane.

Very tragic. Not to mention the church was completely remodeled 6mo ago and now has to be completely gutted. The roof collapsed. Crazy

Dd was telling us her next door neighbours had a whole house generator installed. It was improperly installed and much of the carbon monoxide was getting in the house.

Dd and the family came over last night so they could all shower, as they have no power to the well. At least they can use pool water for sanitary needs. I haven't heard today if there power is back on.

We are 52 and sunny! Beautiful!

It's looking like our first hard frost will be tonight, have to remember to empty the birdbaths so they don't crack.
