It is. It's brought the morale down. I don't know exactly what's going on, but something weird is in the air.

Most stores open here. Just a few wore a mask at church but they did practice a sloppy social distancing.

Store shelves are full. Ice cream, cookies, bakery goods plentiful. As long as there is ice cream I will survive.

Whitmer toughens mask mandate; businesses must deny service

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Friday toughened a requirement to wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic, mandating that Michigan businesses open to the public deny service or entry to customers who refuse to wear one.

The governor also expanded where people must have a face covering beyond indoor public spaces. Starting immediately, they have to wear one outdoors if they cannot consistently keep 6 feet (1.8 meters) from non-household members, and while using public transportation, a taxi or a ride-sharing vehicle — with some exceptions.

Violators will now be subject to a misdemeanor fine.

No shirts, no shoes, no mask — no service," Whitmer wrote in an order.

"Businesses must comply beginning Monday or risk losing their license...

This is crazy one of our states Victoria has had a dramatic increase in Covid cases when things where returning to normal.

Some rogue people have caused it and now people are getting concerned again. Fortunately my state is doing well.

We just keep getting more and more cases here in OK. Just this past week, we had as low as 283 new cases and as high as 858 new cases. Those numbers each cover a 24 hr. period. At the moment, masks have not been made mandatory for the general public.

Here in Norway we've had about 480 new cases the last month. And 13 new deaths. In total. We are a country of about 5.4 million inhabitants.

Testing policies have everything to do with the number of new cases. There will always be far more actual infections than confirmed infections. In April, Norway had done far more tests than the US per inhabitant. By now the US has done twice as many tests per inhabitant. US testing policy has changed enormously - which affects the number of cases correspondingly.

The number of new deaths is a far more reliable number. They follow some time after though, maybe up to a month.

I think we just had a record number of cases for a day here in GA. The Atlanta mayor has now ordered that all people wear masks in public for the city of Atlanta. So I guess you can only take it off when you eat in a restaurant.

Gyms and eat-in restaurants still closed here. Churches are open with capacity limitations and mandatory distancing and masks. Daily fatalities here in NJ had dropped to a very low value but just in the past week there's been an increase to about 50 per day.

Yup, this is all expected no matter where you stand on this mess. Around these parts we have what you call "cabin fever". You can't keep people stuck in their houses at the end of winter no less, and expect everyone to...comply. Come Monday we will see what happens.
