This 5.7 Hemi in the truck has VVT to widen the powerband into the lower rpm's for towing. They developed crazy power with it in the 4th Gen Ram at 390Hp/407ft lbs they had to tame the mileage issue and added the multiple displacement system where cylinders will shut off when not needed. You can hear it if listening carefully. Still sucks gas but then, if you don't like it go buy a Prius.

Traded my SUV in a few years ago for an Elantra which is supposed to get 39m on the frwy. I did it because I'm gone most of the time and because gas prices are outrageous here. I may go back to a smaller SUV.

Truck girl here. I drive a Chevy Tahoe. 15 city, 22 highway (I've nudged it up to 26 highway) I might not get the best mileage, but I make it up by turning off unused lights and recycling.

Lol... my very first car was a used 1963 Pontiac Catalina that I got in the 70s. It was a boat. I have no clue what the mileage was back there so I looked it up...11.4 mpg. Of course gas was low back then, maybe 25 cents a gallon?
This is what she looked like except mine was burgundy.
