Well, it's all downhill from here!!!

It's December first and we're on the slippery slope to Christmas.

    Anyone ready?

Rog and I did a bit of shopping for the grands yesterday and I have his gift purchased for the most part. I still need to get him a couple smaller things.

Our kids and their spouses get socks and cash. I'll get the girls some smelly bath/lotion stuff too.

I've started making plans to get the extra special foods items I need. Today I have a lady dropping off lefsa. (Flatbread made of potatoes and flour)

I was thinking I might attempt to make my own perogies this time. But we'll see...

And cabbage rolls. Our family likes the tiny(1-2bite) sour leaf rice ones and I have a lady at the farmers market I search out to buy from. I also buy nalisniki from her which is cottage cheese crepes that are baked with cream and dill.

Rog will put up the tree at some point and I'll probably put out some ornaments ...

    That's what's happening here.

    How you doin?

I only buy gifts for people who truly need it and I don’t expect or want anything in return. I have 2 family members who are down on hard times. I’ll either PayPal them some money or give them a gift card to Costco. There’s a girl here at a ministry I work at part time at and she leads worship. They have really fallen on hard times. We took up a collection for her last night and gathered around and prayed for her.

Next weekend will have our 31st Journey To Bethlehem nativity drama. We will visitors from all over the state coming to see the production. Last year we hosted 1350.

For family, a lot less noise and activity.

I don't even know how you make that happen. How do you tell your family you're not buying presents for everyone anymore?!

    You just do.

I know Rogs family was not happy with us but I just couldn’t do it anymore.

My sisters were ok with it. And we continued to buy for our parents, but not siblings or nieces and nephews.

My brother's wife has 3 children, and 6 grandchildren. 2 years ago I quit buying for the children (they're never there for Christmas, and they never say thank you) and I now just send the Grandchildren's presents home with my Brother and his wife. I didn't say anything....I just did it. There were 2 or 3 folks who weren't very happy.

well.. we, as extended family, because it was getting so crazy, went to pulling names. It was grand fun... then, we decided it wasn't necessary and opted to do white elephants instead. Also, theings changed and not everyone was able to come.

then, in our little nuclear family, one year we did a EveryThingHandMade.. it was grand fun too. And then we just realized there wasn't anything we really wanted that was in a reasonable price range.
So, we said, let's choose an event and do that. We never did though.. LOL!! but, we didn't care.
I always get socks for we 3 girls, this year I gave them on Thanksgiving so we could wear them all December.
Duane and I opted, more years than i can remember, to not exchange.. again, we didn't want to spend money on something we weren't sure would work.
So, instead, now, we use our Disney pass as just about every gift for the year!
The thing is, with dearest ones, I buy goodies all year. I'm actually very clear on I Don't Do Christmas presents. I do I Love You presents.
Of course, it helps that we're all adults, so there's no Santa factor.
