Cleaning
So, my Christmas decoration thread turned into a house cleaning thread, so of course it made me curious.....What is your normal cleaning schedule? Are there some items you do everyday, or weekly, or yearly?

I absolutely *HATE* clutter and things being "out of order," so I do a bit of tidying up every day...
Nothing major, just a little dusting, washing dishes (yes, I prefer to wash them myself vs letting them "stack up" and using the dishwasher), organizing, etc.
I do a "Major" cleaning twice a year - "Spring Cleaning" right before Easter, and "Winter Prep" right before Thanksgiving...
This is when I go thru my closets and drawers and remove the clothes and household items I haven't used in the previous year and either give them away or donate them to Goodwill - Replace the worn linens and towels with new ones, etc.
I admit my house is not totally "spotless," but I can't stand a messy/dirty kitchen or bathroom, so they get most of my attention.
Yes, my cupboards and pantry items are color-coded and organized alphabetically - Don't hate!

No schedule here. No regular spring cleaning or fall/winter. Things like mail and papers tend to pile up and I only vacuum every couple weeks. Dishes go in the dishwasher and pots and odds and ends get washed each evening but left in the sink to dry. I make sure laundry is done weekly because I’m pretty particular about how I dress.
I am, however, more tidy than I used to be.

I don't follow a schedule any more but I need to. I don't have the stamina to do a lot of cleaning at one time. I keep the laundry done and tidy up the main rooms before bed.

I try to do one really heavy duty cleaning every year, windows, baseboards, blinds, etc. but some years are harder than others to find the time.

With my five year old tiny tornado, it makes tidying up difficult, though I suppose this would be an excellent time to teach her about daily cleaning accountability. I say this as I sit staring at the paper, crayon, ring, and flash cards she left sitting on the kitchen table this morning.

If the grands don't keep things picked up off the in the living room floor, the dog is likely to eat them. They shut the bedroom doors to keep the dog out and those rooms can be a real mess!

Several in my family use foam plates and plastic utensils. You can buy them at the dollar store. The only thing that goes into the dishwasher is glasses and coffee mugs. The only time we use porcelain plates, silverware and cloth napkins is for holidays, special days, and company.

I just can't do it. I would feel guilty all the time throwing away that much trash. I thought y'all were hyper sensitive about the environment out in California?!
