    Christmas Decorating

How many of you decorate this weekend? I helped my Mom yesterday to get her house prepped. Today is my day to get my house all decorated. (obviously, if you look through new posts you'll see that I've been avoiding the project by sitting in here all morning). That said, I need to clean, and possibly paint some before I can put up any decorations. Do any of y'all do the extra stuff?

Put my indoor and outdoor decorations up yesterday...

I always do it on "Black Friday"- I don't do anything over-the-top...

Just a Wreath on the front door with lights, a stake with a flag on it in the front yard that reads: JESUS is the Reason for the Season, and a Nativity Scene on the fireplace Mantle.

I'm not much of a decorator so I usually put up something small on an end table. If I don't do that, I don't do any .....I'm not a curmudgeon, just me! Dd does a beautiful job decorating!

So does my sister in Texas, CurlySue - Her home looks like a Martha Stewart's Christmas poster.

Edited to Add: And she's not married and doesn't have any kids either - Just loves herself some Christmas.

I don't like Christmas. So I don't decorate much. Rog puts up a tree. I have some really pretty ornaments, including a Nativity Scene my mom gave me that may or may not get put out... every year has a different amount of energy put into it.

Rog has worked the last 3 years and has to work the next 3 so our Christmas is pretty quiet except now our older son and his GF have started doing Christmas Day supper... This will be the second year that we go there on Christmas day. Her family is a hard drinking, swearing, smoking bunch, so it's a bit of a strain in some ways, but we can't say no.

There’s this part of me that would love to not do anything. But the mom in me realizes that it’s not for me....

That's it exactly. I always did it for the kids and they were so shocked to find out I'm a Grinch!! lol

    Now I have Grands.

We only buy for the Grands. This year I think they are only getting "envelopes"! We don't give gifts to each other either. We spend Christmas eve with dd and her family and eat sandwiches.

The good thing about decorating is that my oldest came home to help. :). He's 21 now, so he doesn't feel the need to come home all that often. siiiiiigh. That said....I have 30-11-thousand boxes to look through. I'm going to throw away any decorations I don't use this year, and downsize all the "stuff."

Hey did you know you can hire someone to decorate your house for you? I was talking to one of the guest singers at an event I was at a few months back and I asked her what she did for a living. She said she decorates Christmas trees, decorates peoples homes for parties, wedding parties, dinners for CEOs. I think there's an additional cost for clean up and taking the decorations down and storing them.

Anyways, that's my only contribution to this discussion. I can't cook, decorate, clean house and I never want to learn lol
