Staying at Indian Lake State Park our first few nights. Just pulled in and set up. Crayzee ride up here. I turned a corner at an intersection and heard a noise, got up to speed when someone frantically pulled me over saying I lost a wheel. What?!?!
You just dont “lose a wheel” off a camper. After putting on the spare and having no wheel lugs, I temporarily borrowed a lug off the other 3 wheels and drove the 20mi to the auto store to buy 5 new lugs. How did 5 lugs suddenly come loose? They cant and dont. Someone had removed them with the intent of bodily harm and great damage. I suspect an angry neighbor or partier from the Saturday night. Good thing I didnt hear them in the night.

There’s nothing quite like being a yooper, eh?
The term “yooper,” a native or resident of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, will be added to the upcoming edition of the Merriam-Webster dictionary, according to the Escanaba Daily Press, and not a second too soon. It’s all because of one man who spent more than a decade making the case for the term when he realized he couldn’t use it as an official word during a Scrabble game.
Steve Parks began writing to Merriam-Webster in 2002, developing a couple different pseudonyms to convince them to add the word to the dictionary. Despite an editor telling him the term, which dates to the late 1970s, was too regional to be included, he never quit. According to MLive, he spent years sending another, more sympathetic, editor documentation of the word used in popular culture, as well as yooper magnets, chocolate bars, key chains, mugs and more.
Parks told CBS Detroit it was trademark yooper qualities that made him persevere: “Strong work ethic, integrity, resilience — all the things that yoopers are.”
But other than a resident of the Upper Peninsula, what does it mean to be a yooper? They don’t need their own dictionary entry to be totally unique. Here’s some of the unofficial things that make yoopers so special — and the UP one of the best places on earth.
The Yooper dialect is a hybrid that you’re not likely to hear anywhere else.

Da Yoopers was a traveling comedy show and musical group from Ishpeming, Michigan. They are known primarily for their humorous songs and skits, most of which center on life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The band's name includes the term "Yooper," slang for residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and the use of "da" instead of "the" is typical of the Yooper dialect. Its a Michigander thing...he's in the UP (Upper Peninsula, yooper country) and he's checking out/crossing the Big Mac (Mackinac Bridge) which connects our two peninsulas. ;)

Most folk across the nation dont even realize Michigan has two distinct parts, peninsulas. Not to mention the Mighty Mack.
I, for one, did not know that.

...and I for one did not know that most folk did not know, kinda thought it was common knowledge.
Guess you have to look real good at a map to see that the upper and lower peninsulas are not connected and that it took a 5 mile long...yeah, 5 mile long bridge to connect them.
When we lived in the Phx, Az area the topic of the Golden Gate came up and I would mention we had one like that. I was stunned that the guys didnt know we had an upper and lower. Made me womder if they had school or looked at a road atlas....and I for one did not know that most folk did not know, kinda thought it was common knowledge.
