Fayette, a rebuilt settlement know as a furnace town is incredibly interesting. It depicts the 1800’s lifestyle of iron production along the shores of lake Michigan.

Don't you have a metal detector? That would be a neat place to hunt for old coins and relics.

No detector, someday though for sure. The park folk would throw a fit since it has been a historic and preserved site. Super cool place is rich in history and lore.

Good guess. Similar to the typical coal mining towns this is a company town that produce pig iron from 1867-1891. They closed the town when they began to exhaust the lumber supply in making charcoal to fire the iron smelter furnaces.

We passed by the shipyard in Marinette, Wi where the Littoral Combat ship is built. There are 5 awaiting sea trials on Lake Michigan. Security being what it is we would have to trespass to get better pics.

Ahh, didn't realize it was an historic park, tho sometimes they will give you a permit to hunt on only certain areas.
