    My bizarre Ancestry.com story

So, as many will remember I did the Ancestry.com for my daddy, mother, and myself. I was just curious about the countries represented in our lineage. Thankfully I got daddy's maybe about 5 months before he died.

Anyway, you get a few emails from people that matched you in some way wondering about genealogy, etc. I got an email a few month ago from someone whose DNA matched up with daddy's and mine and asked about a particular name I wasn't familiar with at all. I wrote her back and said I wasn't aware of anyone with that name in our family. She still hadn't figured out what was happening. And the reason was that name actually wasn't in our family. I didn't hear from her for a few months.

So while I'm in FL last week, I finally get another email from her. It started with something along the lines of 'I'm sorry I've taken so long to get back with you, and I'm not even sure about writing you this email...' To make a long story short, when she ran her dad's, her sister's, and her DNA, her dad came up with a DNA match to me as 'close family' and her and her sister 'first or second cousins'. This is on my daddy's side. It seems when daddy was in Hawaii during WWII (before he met my mother) when he was about 19-21 or so, he got a girl pregnant. She had a son which who is the girl who contacted me dad. So in other words, he is my half brother(he is 72). Until she ran the DNA, they had always thought that the man that raised her dad was his real dad, and her real grandfather. They were shocked to say the least.

So when I got home from vacation yesterday, I go through my daddy's Hawaii pics from when he was in the Army, and I can find only one 'personal' pic with women in it. There is a pic of two women. I emailed that to her, and she came back with, "The one on the right is my grandmother". My daddy saved that pic with all his other Army pics all these years. She hasn't told her sister anything yet though. Just her and her dad know. But everybody is dead now, so we'll never know the whole story. She married less than two months after she got pregnant by my daddy. So did she know she was pregnant when she married the other man? How do you have sex with one guy and then marry somebody else less than two months later? Those kind of questions that will never be answered.

Anyway, an interesting situation going on to say the least. If you have any questions feel free to ask. It might have been a little confusing. lol.

    Do you plan to meet?
It must be weird to find out that you have other relatives you never knew about. Humans have been doing this since the fall and most of it gets taken to the grave.

I'm fairly sure I'm related to Queen Elizabeth and I want to claim my rightful inheritance but they wont let me near her

Wow, that DNA can open a can of worms I suppose.

I do think it wonderful that she carried and delivered the baby, your half brother but I'm also wondering how unnerving this could become for others involved.

Yep. She said they were shocked. She even debated talking to her dad about it. And then me. And still hasn't told her sister. I mean with me I found out I have a half brother from when my dad was unmarried and in the Army before he knew my mother. It's not really a big deal to me. They are dealing with finding out that their father/grandfather isn't their 'real' one. That has to be 'unnerving' on many levels.

It's appalling to find some women who go through life deceiving their family about children who were fathered by someone else. Betrayal of trust to their kids

There is a increase of fathers paying substantial finances to support their kids yet decades later find out their partner was unfaithful

That's really interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Makes you wonder how many other stories like yours is out there?

If you knew my daddy I'm not surprised.
So........ your daddy liked the ladies?

    No disrespect intended.

I can't remember if we have a thread here about it, but didn't they catch a serial killer (in CA maybe) by using the DNA data bases because they aren't considered "private?"
