How did you meet your spouse?

Lively Stone left us on a cliff hanger in another thread in regards to how she and her husband got together, so instead of derailing that thread I thought it best to start a new one so everyone could share how they met their spouses. So, tell us your love stories. :)

My husband David and I met in first grade. In third grade, we stood side by side for the group class photo and before the shutter clicked, he decided he'd put his arm around me! Well, that was not the thing to do! I gave him the elbow in the gut! Little did we know that I was the gal for him!

Many years later, David was working in our (famous) dairy, which is situated on the main street of our town, and I was living with my parents on the street behind the dairy. I was working as a telephone answering operator, while taking to nursing assistants training (called LPN's now), and it was my last day at work, becasue I had accepted employment as a nurse on staff of a local nursing home. This day in August of 1975, it was about 93 degrees out. I needed to take a bus to my last day of work, so I was walking across the large parking area of the dairy to catch the bus out front on the main street.

David, meanwhile, had had his eye on me for some time, being a member of the same church as I was. He was the supervisor of the ice cream freezer ( a large warehouse extension of the plant/dairy bar), he had stepped outside to "warm up"! He was sitting there on the loading dock in his very heavy snow suit, when he saw me coming. The Lord spoke to Him: "It's now or never!" God knew I would not be needing this bus again! Oh, he was nervous!

As I stood there at the bus stop, I turned around and saw this bulky, bundled figure lumbering toward me---and so did everyone else! People were driving in, sweltering, eager to get a cool, refreshing ice cream soda or something, but seeing this guy in a snow suit was surreal! Well, He came to me and we made a little small talk, but quickly, he asked, "Would you go out with me sometime?" I said, "Well, we are friend's right? Sure."

I got on the bus and took my seat and looked out the window at David sauntering back to his freezer job and the thought in my mind was, "There's my husband!" It was uncanny, because I had no romantic feelings toward him whatsoever.

I came home later that day and told my mother, "I've met my husband today!"

    Mom: "Oh? Who is it?"

    "It's David Williams!"

    "Oh, Woolly! I like him!"

I went through my younger engaged sister's 'Bride' magazine and found my dress that day! I had to be prepared, after all, didn't I??

Sure enough, after I had promised the Lord that I would only date a man whom I knew was the man He was sending my way, we did have our first date in the last week of August, and we did discover that we were a good love match, and were engaged on October 1, and married January 2, 1976.

It has been a wonderful nearly 40 years, rich and satisfying, although not without some difficult trials we have had to weather together concerning finances and the raising of our children, but we would both do it all over gain!

God is so awesome to His kids, and if we would place our very dear hopes and plans in the hands of our loving Father, He will bring great things into our lives, perfectly suited to us...and He is a God who has a great sense of humour, too!

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Mr Curly and I met at church when we were in our teens. We lost touch, but reconnected about 3 years later when a mutual friend gave me a nudge in his direction. We started dating when he got out of the service and were married the next spring. I also went dress shopping before the proposal as I knew we were going to marry! We celebrated 41 years of marriage this year.

I met my dh through my cousin and her boyfriend. My cousin's boyfriend was going to show us his homeplace but his car started to leak exhaust and we were coughing like crazy when we met his friend who agreed to take over with his car. Well, it turned out to be a lifelong drive. I've been married to that new driver for 47 years. Two children, four grandchildren. We've been so blessed!

My wife and I met in college in an "Ancient Literature" class. I had sat in the back of class and she sat a couple of rows in front of me. After a couple of weeks I actually moved forward in my seating to get to know another girl in class, but fortunately hit it off with my "wife to be" instead.

Part of the class included study of some small sections of the Old and New testaments. She was impressed with my knowledge of them, and of my gentle correction of the professor a few times regarding her presentation of them. I was simply impressed by this young lady I was sitting next to.

One day I finally decided to ask her to lunch. As we exited the building talking with each other, I was just about to ask her, when she suddenly asked me if I would like to go to lunch.

    The rest is history.

I met her while in Bible College, Des Moines, Iowa. I took her on our first date to a Pentecostal Revival service. It was love at first sight.
Tomorrow, Sept. 14, will be our 58th wedding anniversary.
She is the best wife I have ever had and the only one. I am a blessed man.
I ran after her until she caught me.
She is the smartest woman in the world. She chose me!
Seriously, she is a godly woman dedicated 100% to God and she lives it every day. A blessing from God into my life. Everyone loves her and she changed my life. God knows what we need.
I wish you all could meet her.

I met my husband at work. He was a godly Southern Baptist who had attended seminary and did not speak in tongues. I was not interested in marrying him, though I found him attractive. Long story short. He told me he felt that I was supposed to be his wife, and I rejected him completely. Some months later while on vacation in Colorado, I had a dream about him. I went for an hour walk and prayed in tongues the whole time, and by the end of the walk, I knew that I knew he was supposed to be my husband. We were immediately engaged and got married a few months later. I got pregnant on my honeymoon (another part of the story....I knew I was going to be pregnant before I knew I was going to marry my husband). We have been married for 23 years as of Aug 22.

He is an amazing husband, father, and man of God. The absolute best.
