I decided I was going to get my commercial single engine license, which allows you to be hired to fly. The flight has to have one leg at least 250NM from the point of origin. St Augustine is 255NM from where we flew from. Couple of reasons. One is just doing something that keeps you proficient flying. Another would be that if anything happens to fall in my lap about flying for pay, then I'll be able to do it. After I do this I'll do the multi-engine add on for the commercial that would allow me to be hired to fly multi-engine planes.

Here are a few pics from the trip. Pretty cloudy, so we filed IFR (Instrument Fight Rules, where we could legally fly through the clouds). Had a really thick overcast leaving St Simons going back to Covington GA where we flew from. It was fun climbing through it then a beautiful view flying on top of the clouds.

This is the plane. A Mooney 201 200hp single engine 4 seat plane. Complex plane, which means it has retractable gear and a constant speed prop, which you have to use for the commercial checkride.

Beginning of the trip to St Augustine. Somewhat cloudy.

These are flying up the coast from St Augustine FL to St Simons GA. That is out the front and left window.

At St Simons we ate at Souther Soul BBQ which has been on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives.

Then back to Covington. Solid overcast on the way back. We're at 6000 ft.

And some break in the clouds almost home.

Pick of the panel while flying. First pic shows some thunderstorms off our left a few hundred miles away.

Finally from a site where you can track flights, that shows our 3 legs. Covington to St Augustine, St Augustine to St Simons, St Simons back to Covington.

That's almost the same comment as one I read on a Satanism forum 20 years ago. And some hit-and-run troll on a Christian forum at the same time, he could have been from that other forum or similar.

My uncle worked for Mooney in the 70's -80's. I used to visit quite often, Kerrville TX.

Johnny Carson used to use it when he was doing Karnak.
