I've decided that letting everyone know about Wells Fargo's lousy customer service is now a mission of mine.
I've always gotten great service from them... but then again, the Lord goes before me and surrounds me with His presence so I have very little problems with any big companies like this. Even when I do it's resolved quickly.

I know, it's just me and all their other customers are treated like garbage

    just a tip..

it helps a LOT if you're friends, good friends, with the branch manager.

(unfortunately, she's moved on.. so now.. not as much)

Wells Fargo seems to have a bad reputation overall. There are no banking branches in my area so I have no personal experience with them. I am on several credit forums and most seem to have a low opinion of them. Unfortunately, when dealing with banks about a deceased person, it is sometimes a state requirement but other times it is a bank policy. If it is a bank policy, politely but firmly tell them you understand but there are exceptions. Always remain calm and firm, but always follow through with what you said you would do.

Also, if you have a local tv news station and they have a consumer affairs reporter, call them. Banks and any companies hate negative press. Also as others suggested go further up the corporate chain. It cannot hurt, but always be polite, firm, and rational even if you're like me and want to scream and shout.

I had an incident once in helping my father, he was hit and involved in a multi car fender bender. He was frustrated because he was given the run around. I have some experience in these matters and called the agent. He gave me the usual run around, I mentioned an insurance term which got some attention but no resolution. I ended the call informing him we would file a complaint with the state insurance department, his response was that we should do what we felt we needed to do.

We filed and within a week the adjusters called my father telling him they would cover everything and he was to call the shop and tell them to start. I told my father NOT to call and have the insurance company call and authorize the repairs. If my father called and the insurance company decided to drag it out my father by calling and authorizing the repairs could be responsible, if the adjuster called it was on the insurance company. I know, long story but be calm, do what you say and things will start to work out. We all are praying for you.

You're not alone. I was just reading a FB post from someone I don't know (she was commenting on a mutual friend's post) and she wrote:

I need to take my aggression and frustration of Wells Fargo out on something.....either that or bundle up and shoot holes in some paper!!!!!

Wells Fargo, Chase, the too big to jail/fail clowns were handsomely rewarded for being degenerate enterprises that caused and benefitted from the "collapse" in and around 07-08. They are incentivised to do evil, got paid handomely for it, by us.

Don't hold your breathe waiting for them to do the right thing.

I have switched most of my banking to credit unions. I still have accounts at three banks, one is a small regional bank and the other is an online division of a regional bank outside my area and the third is CapitalOne 360 which is an online only. I don't use the first two for much, but CapitalOne 360 pays nice interest for having small balances, and their overdraft protection is awesome, though I don't use it, it nice to know it's there. Credit unions can also be hit or miss. Local ones tend to have excellent service. Something to consider if anyone is thinking of moving banks.

Also some of the bigger national credit unions can be great also. You often don't have to be in a certain group to join. For example, I'm a member of "State Department Federal Credit Union", neither I or my wife have worked for the State Department, but you can join an organization (for free if they still have the code to do so) and we qualified for membership. Fair interest rates on checking and savings, and excellent credit card rate of just over 7%. Nice for those times when you have an unexpected expense to pay for. Don't overlook credit unions, they've come a long way. With "shared branches" you can do much of your banking almost anywhere in the US.

    I agree with Scott...

Our personal/household banking account is with one of our local Credit Unions.

We've had NO problems whatsoever with them for the last 29 years!

Many years ago we went strictly Credit Union and have been very pleased with the service.

I've been with the NC state employees credit union for a LONG time. I've done all of my loans through them....it's just easier.
