So I went to IMDB and Corner Gas, a VERY Canadian sitcom, doesn't have 1 Thanksgiving show in the 6 years it ran. It was hilarious. It was filmed in Saskatchewan but could be small town anywhere. Here's the premier episode. The lady that stars in the MOM spot recently passed away. All 6 seasons can be watched on youtube.
Here is the recipe I used, it came off the net but I have no idea where I got it.
Skip the Oven
If you're only hosting a small Thanksgiving crowd this year, you're in luck. If your guest list is under six people, you can skip the oven all together and roast your turkey in your slow cooker. Using your slow cooker to make this year's centerpiece will be so convenient, you'll never go back to the oven again.*Here's the recipe for a delicious, slow-cooked roast:
Ingredients:
1 turkey breast, 5-6 pounds
1/2 cup orange juice
1 can whole cranberry sauce
1 package onion soup mix
Salt.
Directions
Make sure that your turkey is completely thawed and removed from the package. Place it in your slow cooker and rub the onion soup mix all over it. Then add in the orange juice and cranberry sauce. Cover your slow cooker and cook on high for 5 to 6 hours or on low for 8 to 9 hours. Be sure that the internal temperature of the turkey is at least 180 degrees. Remove your turkey from the slow cooker, carve and enjoy with your loved ones!
I used jellied cranberry sauce instead of the whole. I have no memory of using the oj or onion soup, so I don't know how closely I followed the recipe. But it was good and so easy!
We got the large crockpot with our credit card points. After I got it, I realized it was way too large for two, so I got a small one at WM. My original got donated when we moved years ago. Now I'm so glad for the large one!
My aunt used to always cook the whole turkey in a Nesco roaster oven. That is another easy way to cook turkey.
Ok, found it:http://www.crock-pot.com/blog/archiv...er-tricks.html
We will not be able to go anywhere due to health issues. We will stay home. Not able to do much cooking so we will buy some things from the deli. Since it will be just me and my sweet wife, we will have time to pray and remember what God has done for us through the years. We are so happy because we are still together. God is good.
I moved all those Thanksgiving posts into this thread so things may seem a little out of order. :)
As to me, I'm kinda turkey-ed out. There've been some great sales going on for turkeys and turkey breasts the last couple of weeks and I caved and made one and still have some leftovers in the fridge. Not sure yet but I may go with a ham and kielbasa and some fixin's.
