It's good to be able to speak one's language properly and to be able to read the Bible in that language. Reading the Bible through at least once and the New Testament a few times plus having listened to a number of good sermons is a good foundation.

I think that is up to the Holy Spirit and do believe that man's controlling and turning pastoring and evangelism into a job/profession is not scriptural.

However, I see no BOX either way..some in the profession were called and are Spirit lead and some are not..I do doubt there are many going by faith that are not called though Now in 3 world countries, most probably are going by faith.

So I don't think the education thing is God's criteria..

Paul talks about the worker being worth his pay so making it a profession is Biblical. The 12 apostles were unlearned though could be said to have received education directly from Jesus. But Timothy had neither, he was just a Gentile youth.

Colonel...no, I disagree...when it becomes a profession the payers are obligated contractually...I don't see the passage you mentioned stretching the concept to that extent...

I think there are some professions that letters after your name are essential.

I also think, to be in a church, as pastor, of a particular denomination, you need to know, and agree to hold to, what they teach/believe.
    that's only fair.

1 Cor 9:11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?

Then Paul mentions that he doesn't make use of this right but he calls it a right. That doesn't mean that an unpayed pastor can simply demand to be payed from now on based on that verse but it does mean that the Bible supports the concept of the professional minister. Which can involve a contract including specific terms.

I am strongly for getting a good education. It is important where you get it. Not all Colleges offer good education. They are little more than Sunday School classes. Education changed my life. It made a tremendous difference in my understanding and ministry.
