The non-organic food sold in North America is messed up. It's an undisputed fact that 75 times as much antibiotics is used to produce meat in the US as in Norway. Pound for pound, that is. That is a shocking number but it is the truth. The use of a vast range of anabolic steroids is rampant and also growth hormone.

You really think we don't know that? Sheesh, Colonel... this is a FUN thread. Give us a bacon grease finger lickin' break.

Here is the thing about 'healthy' eating. The first thing a person needs to do to eat healthy is start eating ketogenic. Of course that means get rid of the sugar and so much carbs. Forget whether it's organic or grass fed or whatever. Just start eating the right kinds of foods. I know the food snobs don't like that, but organic is more expensive, harder to find, and some people just don't have that extra money to do it. So just start where you can. Your body will thank you for it. Then if you're so inclined, then begin to add the organic, etc. I try to do organic whenever I can and have a lot of foods that I always buy organic.

I would love to buy grass fed beef but it's too lean, over 90%. I need more fat in my meat. Simple Truth has 80/20 organic, but not grass fed. That's better. I still can't figure out why organic ground beef is so 'wet' though. I hate that. Kroger had a 73/27 I buy because it has more fat, and is 'dry'.

    Good advice.

We get our beef from our family ranch, so know exactly what's gone into it.

I started adding coconut oil to our extra lean hamburger. Good for ya and makes you believe you're having something nice and greasy.

I buy Simple Truth organic virgin coconut oil. I put it in my coffee. I've really gotten to where I like that hint of coconut taste in my coffee. It's very mild as coconut oil isn't strong.

Never thought about adding it to the meat.

Rog and I don't personally raise them, but he helps out over there when they need him. I believe they've cut the herd back to about 30 cows that calve every year. They used to have double that or more, but both his sisters are over 70 now, and still ranching. They have about a dozen horses as well...

I don't eat a lot of beef, but when I do, the more fat the better. I can't stand burgers that are 90% lean.

I didn't know that. A good reason to either spend more for organic or move to Norway.

If I had been living in the US I would have bought mostly organic food.
