What was it for? Did you contest it in court? What happened?

Yep. In North Carolina, depending on the county, you can pay a lawyer like $250 and they can get a speeding ticket reduced to 'improper equipment' which isn't a moving violation that affects your insurance. I got one in Mecklenburg Co. where they don't do that, and I got another in Cabbarrus county where they do that and I got it reduced by paying my $250. You have lawyers there that this is their main business and make a lot of money just getting tickets reduced. Easy money for them.

weeeellllllll.. the first was when I was HUGE pregnant..
I was on the way to have lunch with my (then) husband.. I only had a short time.
We had a mustang (I think).. I didn't even see the CHP for about 7 off ramps.. (I'm trying to give some kind of context.. but it's difficult and I don't have the actual miles) .. He pulled me over.. I, of course, cried throughout the explaination.. He said I was doing 120.. but he wrote me for 80 so he didn't have to take me to jail right then.
the second time we were on the way to Las Vegas and I wasn't paying attention because we were in a rental car and I didn't know how to adjust the seat so I was distracted and went over the limit in a speed trap.
I did try to fight that one.. when I went to pay the fine the woman was surprised it was as low as it was ($140.00)
there were a couple of other littles.. no seatbelt .. but I learned my lesson with the speeding!

Well I'm contesting something in the morning, I really didn't do it...say a prayer. ;)
One in 2002 and one in 2004, nothing big.

Don't like paying fines so I am much more careful driving now

I received a warning once. It must have been about 1980. I was probably driving 10-15 over the limit on I 35. I was driving my parents to a funeral. I was stopped by a LT. OHP in an unmarked car going the opposite direction. I guess it helped that my Dad was a retired OHP Trooper.. No fine, nothing on record.

I've gotten a couple. The first time, the police officer was called away before he could write the ticket. The second time, I was driving home from my son's career day (he was six) He was talking about how he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, then I got pulled over. I asked him if he would give me a speeding ticket. He solemnly looked at me and said, "yes."
I went to court for that one and pleaded "probation before judgement" I paid the court cost and they deferred the points. If I went 1 year with no further violations, they would be expunged. If I was pulled over again and found guilty, I would get points for both violations.

A lot of people drive carefully but according to a whim, meaning they end up driving 40 mph everywhere, including in areas with a lot of pedestrians etc. I tend to be specifically careful when driving in such areas. Following traffic in a lane where they are a bit over the speed limit on the highway doesn't bother me much. Norwegian speed limits tend to be rather conservative though.
