This was our backyard PRIOR to the blizzard-from snow this week in Mountain a Lake Park, MD (which was a spiritual resort in the late 1800's-Power in the Blood was written here way back then).
The BIG blizzard starts here tonight. Lighter snow started this afternoon. We are expecting up to two feet.
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
(Ephesians 4:17-18)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
(Psalm 1)
I don't know if we're in the path of a blizzard, but we're getting a TON of ice here!
I was asked to share more about Mountain Lake Park. Today, it is just a very small historic town, but in the late 1800's it was known for two things-being a spiritual resort with speakers including Billy Sunday, and an educational center, with speakers like Pres. Taft. It was Methodist based, and life revolved around a 5,000 seat amphitheater.
It is located in the mountains of Western, MD, and is an impoverished area, but, because of the railroads, was apparently more wealthy then.
Henry Ford & Thomas Edison were among those who vacationed in the area.
Apparently, there were seasons of some form of revival. The hymn, or song, a Power in the Blood was written here during one of those seasons.
The next town over was Loch Lynn, and partly because of activities at a hotel there a popular saying was born, "For Jesus' sake, come to Mountain Lake. For sin's sake go to Loch Lynn."
Today, a lot of wealthy retirees live in the huge Victorian homes in the summer and leave for warmer temps over the harsh, snowy winters.
Here is some history.

This is where we live, Hayden Cottage. It is a miracle we are there-how we got here and what we pay in rent. Actually, when I tell people the rent, they cannot believe me. It is a true miracle.
This article is about Mountain Lake Park, and the lady, Mrs. Hayden, is technically our landlord-though her family administers it since she is in a nursing home now.

We have probably between 6-7 inches, and it's snowing like crazy right now. Probably will have 9-10 inches when all is said and done.
