    Hmm...today.

Today we had people come in to clean the air ducts in our home and to finish the installation of a new furnace that in an emergency Saturday was roughed in. Friday during the day I felt rather cold and asked my husband to flip the thermostat up. He did, and I never noticed that nothing happened until I got increasingly chilly. By 4pm we noticed that the furnace was not working. We checked the breakers and the filter, but nothing was wrong there. So, we called our local Heating and Air Conditioning people and the office said to call after 5pm for the on call people! Ugh! Friday after hours and no heat?? So, I called at 5:05pm and fortunately, because we were a past customer, there was a serviceman heading out of town but past our place, and he would stop on the way out!

Well, Ralph came and discovered pretty quickly that we had dual cracks in the heat exchanger clam shell. Bad news. We need a whole new furnace! He sent the salesperson over who was a lovely young woman and the daughter of the owner and granddaughter of the original founder of the company...so she knew her stuff! She came right over, and we chose a good furnace, and she was able to make arrangements for a roughed in installation on Saturday first thing! That is rare in my books! Our wonderful neighbours lent us a good heater and we turned up the blankets and we were fine.

What is really important is that I have been suffering with some mild to pretty harsh headaches for at least three weeks, accompanied in the last two weeks with dizziness. It turns out that this could have been due to some carbon monoxide (CO) leaking into the house air stream from the furnace. We have no CO detectors, even though it is law here for every residence to have at least one.

Please, please, please make sure you get a CO detector for your home and even your garage, and areas around your garage entrance into your home if you have one. I am still a bit headachy and a little bit dizzy now and then, but as soon as that furnace was in, the steadiness of the symptoms went away.

Don't be like us, thinking it could never happen to you. It definitely can. I thank God for protecting me from human stupidity and making sure that furnace went kaput for my and my husband's and and daughter's sake! Our lives can be snuffed out in an instant! They are too precious, and especially to the Lord Jesus Christ who has great plans for us all. I think by not adhering to good safety measures for our home, we actually tempted God in a way, relying on Him to protect us when we could have been more proactive in taking better care of this home He gave us.

Today attended the funeral of one of my wife’s uncles; he was the second youngest in the family, only 72 to his oldest brother’s 87. He died of cancer.

Tomorrow I help out at the funeral service of a 45-year-old lady from church who died of brain cancer.

    (you asked)

Despite my previous post about possible CO poisoning, my symptoms persist...so I was wrong. I do believe I am suffering a sinus problem, but no infection, though. Will eventually mosey on in to my doctor to see about it. The daily short bouts of headache do get to me.

So, in keeping with the thread's title....today I am doing nothing!

    Enjoy your day, everyone!

Well glad the CO saga is over with! Don't know if you caught this thread yet, but there's a new one about sinus problems and possible solutions:
