    gender roles

I was out pressure washing the house yesterday, and I began thinking about gender roles. Or more specifically...those jobs that we distinguish as male jobs or female jobs. I tend to think of manual labor for a man. (hence the name manual)

So I was just thinking...how many of you actually ENJOY doing jobs that cross the gender line? And what ARE those jobs that you enjoy?

I enjoy mowing the grass, edging the lawn (one of my favorites) and pressure washing.

I like to work out with huge weights, including my legs.

Ummm, how does that reverse gender roles ??? Well you'd be surprised at how popular powerlifting-style weight training has become among women these days, they seem to have discovered that it works wonders on their hips and thighs and there is also this saying "strong is the new skinny" which I think is a huge improvement on the anorectic look of yesteryear.

You familiar with Crossfit? I joined about 2 months ago. Basically Olympic style weighlifting combined with cardio. The weighlifting becomes a part of the cardio in a lot of workouts. Lots of women in there.

There's a bit too much muscular fatigue involved for my liking. Also olympic style weightlifting doesn't work very well if your legs are long, the bar goes too far behind in the snatch movement and front squats and clean&jerks become difficult to handle. Advanced crossfitters are good at pullups, dips and pistol squats, which I also do. I run intervals for cardio.

Make sure you learn the technique on those olympic movements well, it is very easy to hurt oneself doing that without proper technique.

Not me! - I've never mowed a lawn or done any type of mechanical work in my life - Nope, not interested at all

He who finds a wife that will mow the lawn finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

The Fool has said in his heart: I need a woman who does yard work.

Hubby knew I was a Girly-Girl who doesn't like to get dirt under my fingernails before he married me...

However, he also knew that if he handled the Man Stuff, that I'd cook, clean and wait on him hand and foot.

Actually before I met my husband, I liked to figure out how to fix things, but he's so good at fixing everything, there's never been any point in my doing it.
