Yep, people steal, I get that but that doesn't mean everyone steals. As far as being "triggered", it was the chirpy little lady that accosted me like 3 times (while others went on by). I think she was enjoying herself just a little too much.

I've seen articles that say that Walmart is closing whole stores because of the level of theft.

Too many people steal just because they know they can get away with it, not because of need.

Besides all that, Walmart has been highly implicated in human trafficking out of China - in cahoots with the Clinton's shipping line, Evergreen.

Some states allow shoplifting, not here.

Walmart uses technology to prosecute shoplifters, they use surveillance cameras, etc. Some people steal and think they get away with it but Walmart is tracking them and when their total theft reaches 1500.00 or so depending on the state, they swear out a warrant for you, they'll have all the incidents on video, your car plate number, amount stolen, dates, etc. It takes time for them to build the case but that is how they do it. So if people are cheating the scanners thinking they are getting over, well, it's just a matter of time before they catch up to you.

Walmart has no legal right to ask for receipts, detain you, etc. You can ignore them or tell them "no".

Walmart is a Big Brother operation, no doubt about that and has been a destructive force, I have always avoided that place but eggs and milk are near half of what others are charging here so I decided to use them.

The self-checkout is just one step in the move towards touch-less shopping which will entail facial/iris recognition, etc, everything that is onerous, invasive and controlling. They will lead the way when it comes to implants and other nonsense (mark of the beast).

If that chirpy little lady asking for receipts would have checked herself I sure would have saved a bunch of time. Now I know everything I didn't want to know about Walmart loss prevention, etc.

I didn't know all that about the way Walmart tracks shoplifters. Very interesting. Thanks.

I have avoided Walmart for years and have only gone in to look for specific things I can't find anywhere else in the stores in my little city. If I DO have to buy something there, I try to use the checkouts with real people doing the work.... We should get a discount for doing self checkout. There's a couple other stores in town with self checkout and I avoid them too.

I avoid AMAZON as well. Only order off there for very specific things. Wayfair as well - not to mention that they've put their prices way up, too.

McDonald's is owned by Illuminati family, too, and I've avoided them since I found out they're allowed a certain percentage of human flesh in their hamburgers.

Hmmm, I feel as if I'm in the minority here (pun intended)

I love the Self-checkout registers at Walmart and Kroger - I usually just pick up a handful of items at Walmart anyway, and I find checking myself out is sooo much quicker...

Plus, I can bag my stuff the way I like it, and not have to make sure the Clerk doesn't smush my Bread or place the canned goods on top of the Eggs.

Me too! This is the reason why I won't stop shopping Amazon. They have the best customer service as do some other online stores like Whole Foods.

Our Ross stores are great. The only problem is they sell out of items quickly. So you have to find out their delivery days and get there early!

A little off topic but you reminded me of something that happened once when I was in line at the checkout. I was looking at a display on my left when I noticed that the line was moving, well I moved up a little too far and bumped the gentleman in front of me. I apologized and then went back to reading about the item on my left. When I looked up again I noticed that the gentleman was gone and it was my turn at the checkout so I moved my cart up. What I had not noticed was that he had apparently dropped something and had bent down to pick it up, and I ran into him again while he was on the ground.

I've always considered Walmart to be my last resort for shopping, I don't like the way they do business but on occasion they can be useful. Lately their eggs and milk are almost half the price of the other grocers in the area so I decide, ok, I'll hit them up for that stuff. Now Walmart likes to herd everyone through self-checkout, I really hate that and prefer a real cashier, they are also rude about the whole thing, anyway since they are herding everyone through self checkout, they are also asking for receipts when you leave the store, you are now a suspect.

Retailers commonly give away things, offer very cheap prices on some things, they are called "loss leaders", you go all the way to the back of the store to get the cheap milk and they hope you'll throw a few over-priced items into your cart along the way. Well, Walmart also has a very good tool section, not as good as Harbor Freight but some of their tools are real bargains so I'm saving money on milk and then buying some tools.

One problem though, every time I checkout and am about to leave the store this chirpy little lady stops me and asks for a receipt, one time she even rifled through my cart at checkout to see if I was changing tags. Now, the first time it happened, no problem, she's just doing her job, the second time, I'm a little less comfortable with getting pulled over for a receipt, the third time she rifles through the cart, ahhh, no, this is too much but figure she is only doing her job and let it go but when I get home I have this email from Walmart asking me to "rate my Walmart shopping experience". I gave the 1 star, the lowest possible rating and told them that if I am ever accosted again at checkout and treated like a shoplifting suspect I will sue them for public embarrassment, false imprisonment, harm to reputation, etc, etc.

I've been back a few times since and the little chirpy lady isn't there anymore and no one is asking me for receipts.
    Good for you! Wonderful story!

I rarely shop at Walmart anymore except when we're having an event at Church in which case brought us there Saturday night.

While there I discovered they now sell two of my favorite beverages that cost less than at Wincos. Zero Vitamin Water and cold Super Coffee, which I need to drink for energy before my workouts.

So now I'll need to purchase those two items at Walmart, which means I'll visit at least once a week now.
