Are you changing your life because of high gas prices?

Scott and I have been discussing the high price of gas. Overnight gas jumped 50 cents/gallon here in SE Michigan. I believe I saw that in California they are paying well over $6/gal.

We have a hybrid (Honda Insight) (45 mpg) and a Dodge Ram truck (<20 mpg). We both love the truck, especially because our dirt road is a potholed and muddy mess right now, and Scott loves driving it. However, we agreed to make some adjustments to drive the Honda more often and if we both have places to be at the same time, whoever has the shortest distance to drive takes the truck.

What about you? Are you changing or adjusting your lifestyle? Or not at all???

I limited my "outings" over the last couple of years because of Covid - Now that gas prices are sky-high, I'm cutting back even more.

I've noticed that some drivers are turning off their cars at red lights. Twice in the past few days, the light goes green and the car next to me starts up.

    They call it hypermiling.

That's standard equip on higher end vehicles. I drove an Audi that would shut off at stops and restart with a touch of the gas pedal. Drove...me...nutso. I immediately called the owner and asked where the disable switch was.

The Dodge Ram Hemi gets about the same mpg as our 2001 Jeep Cherokee. I choose the Hemi because you just never know when you will need 400 horsepower and 3.92 gears

There are vehicles that come with that feature built into them, it's called Auto start-stop.

    Start-stop system - Wikipedia

But with all that starting and stopping you would have to think it would make the starter wear out quickly.

I was with a friend last week who's vehicle had it but they don't like it so each time they start a journey they press a button to disable it.

To be the boss, you pay the cost. I don't know why but I think gas prices will crash soon.

Wow, I didn't know that, I don't keep up much with the newer doo-dads in fact I think I'd rather stick with older "dumb" vehicles. I was driving a new silverado for awhile and found that the TV mounted into the dash was quite the distraction, almost wrecked it trying to turn on a radio.

This will work just fine, thank you.
