The village where we get our mail and the kids went to school is only about 5 miles away.
There's a corner store/gas station/butcher shop right now that we can get odds and ends at. There's a hotel/bar/restaurant that's still open and a chinese restaurant that just closed because the owner and woman who did all the cooking just passed away in December. There's a hockey arena, curling rink, elementary school, jr/sr high school, a big, new town hall, hair dresser, antique store, a credit union branch and a church that's used by 2 different congregations. Businesses have come and gone through the years. A few years ago, the grocery store that had been there since the beginning of time burned down....
It's a village of about 850pop. Pretty typical small prairie town. It's where Rog and I both went to school, too. lol It's really strange... even though we've spent our whole lives here, we don't have any close friends in the area. Lots of acquaintances, but no one we really go have coffee with or drop in on.

I think every small town/village in Canada has a hockey arena, and sometimes the hockey arena is the best building in the town.

That's the truth!!! Can't be small town Canada without one. And if the hamlet is too small for an indoor arena, there will be an outdoor rink. Always.

If you haven't heard, I wanted to tell you all about a new gas app called "Upside". You get money back every time you get gas. It adds up in like a little savings account and then you can use it to fill your tank when you've earned enough. People are raving about it.

We moved to small town Ontario. The only "restaurant" in town (not counting McD's, Burger King and Pizza Hut) was an independent that closed at 6pm. We had to drive to London (Ontario) if we wanted to eat out. But the rink in that town was state of the art! But at least we had a small grocery store!

They can do that with any smart phone anyways.
A guy in my church wants to go back to a flip phone. Probably can track that too
