We do a re-gifting party at church. :) It's like the white elephant gift game everyone does, but no "real" gifts...just re-gifts, or junk you want to get rid of. No money spent...no feelings hurt.

we get a ton of crap from moms.. (mugs with tea that I'd never drink in a gazillion years.. notepads etc)
so, I always try to regift.. someone else may love it.
although, with friends, I'll kindly refuse. I had a very dear friend try to give me a box of Christmas cards. I'm not joking.
I let her know that I don't give cards.. when she pressed, I just told her that IF I was inclined to give a card, I'd want to choose something. She also had put in a rock necklace.. again, not joking. Happily, she knows I don't wear necklaces.. so she didn't press too hard.

Rarely do we regift. Other than one person we buy gift cards. Before you start that it's the easy way out, We put thought into each. We find out the stores they like and get gift cards for them. There are no young children and we all came to the same conclusion that it's better for us. That way they can choose something they would really like.

I usually like gifts I receive but this year I was given a gift that I will never use. We give to the grands (conservative gifts) and small cash gifts to dd and sil. I don't give to the person and I certainly don't expect to receive one. I may give it to the church owned thrift store I feel comfortable donating to.

Always use the gift before regifting

I usually love what I receive, except this year I did get something I probably won't use and I'm wondering what to do with it. I crocheted 2 gifts for people I was assigned to pray for whom I haven't had the chance to meet yet, so I put a note in with those saying that if the color/style/fit weren't right for them to please feel free to regift the item. I don't mind if people use something I gave them as a gift for someone else.
