Speaking of that, I went to a church once that a friend pastored. We met at another church. I was on staff and to make a long story short he fired me and told me to get out when I questioned him about someone in front of a prayer group. On the spot, and he wasn't nice about it either.

Later I found out that he would actually send somebody to a member's house (somebody he felt should be there, might have even been an usher) to find out why they weren't at church before church started. A real control freak. Really great guy at one time, fluent in the gifts, but was just a control freak. Needless to say the church is no longer. He seriously could have had the largest charismatic church on the Southside of Atlanta until he started going that way.

I wonder what he is doing now?

Doesn't have a church and I think has had a stroke and heart problems. Really overweight now too. Wasn't at the time. Not at all well physically these days. His wife comes to my church every once in awhile and I talk to her.

My guess, he is beating himself up and won't let it go.

Oh man, the stories I could share about controlling leadership... I have friends that have nearly had nervous breakdowns living under tyrannical pastors. Oddly enough, some of them are so conditioned to serve God that way, they cannot live in freedom.

Bingo. Many of them think it's actually how it's supposed to be.

Very true. If they get saved under that type of pastor, they don't know any differently.

I had a friend who went to a church where he had to bring all his pay check stubs to prove he was paying all of his 10% tithe. The members were not allowed to buy a house or car unless he came and inspected it and gave his approval.

There is more and it gets worse. The good news is, he got out. He's a wealthy businessman. Too smart for such nonsense, but again, he came straight from the world into this.

Yeah. Not me. That people could sit under that and fall for that is unbelievable. Hope it doesn't cost him his salvation. That's pretty egregious spiritually.
