Groceries : walk 500 meters or around 2 miles to a mall by car or bus. There are many close to work.
Church : 7 miles or so by car or 13 minutes by bus (two different campuses)
I don't use the car much and the cost of unlimited train/bus/etc within Oslo is about $90 per month.

Whoa...45 miles just to get groceries? Is that one way?
I knew you were rural but wow. How close is your nearest neighbor?

I edited my post that you quoted.... I meant to say that the 70-75km is round trip, so about 30-35km one way. (about 25 miles).
Yep, I am rural, but it's a populated rural, so my nearest neighbors are just across the road and another a half mile down the road.
If I need something I can run into Kitscoty to the gas station/convenience store/butcher shop, which is about a 7 minute drive. That's where I get my mail, where I went to school, where our kids went to school... small town Alberta.

I find it's such a different perspective when it comes to distance in North America compared to the European countries. I'll drive either 2.5 hours by highway or sometimes even 5.5 hours to get to an international airport... whereas in Europe, that much distance would take you through 2 or 3 countries!
Anyhow, I'm afraid I just don't have any other option than driving and even when I get to my closest little city, there's NO public transportation options other than cabs. If I go to the capital of the province, there certainly is, but that's a 2+ hour drive away and only go there for special events, dr appts and shopping!

I live in a city. In Finnmark people would drive 150 miles each way just to buy cheap meat across the Finnish border and it was no big deal.

6 shekels per liter
3.84 liters per gallon
3.5 shekels per dollar.
3.84 X 6 =23.04 shekels per gallon
divided by 3.5 shekels per dollar =$6.58 dollars per gallon for gas in Israel this week.

Filled up at Krogers, they were at $2.63 but I had 400 points so it was $2.23 for me.
