I always feel guilty when I make a non-green meal. Did you make a salad to go with it?

Oh, that was a wedding gift from 40 years ago...a lovely tea set sent from my dear aunt from Edinburgh, Scotland. It is true gold-trimmed bone china and the pattern is a blue and green leaf (my favourite colour combo!) --- "Trend". That was the very first time I actually used it! Thanks for noticing!

    Cabbage Roll Casserole

1 to 1 ½ lb lean ground beef
    1 ½ cups rice
    ½ onion, chopped
    1 large can tomato sauce
    ½ head of cabbage, sliced
    1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    Salt and pepper

Brown meat and onion in skillet, and drain. In large, rectangular baking dish or lasagna pan, place a 2-inch layer of cabbage. Mix rice, salt and pepper and Worcestershire sauce with tomato sauce and combine with the meat mixture in the skillet. Layer meat/tomato mixture over cabbage. Then, add more cabbage topped with another layer of the meat/tomato mixture. You may add up to ½ cup of water over the top to help the casserole remain moist. I usually add the water with the tomato sauce at the beginning). Cover with foil and bake at a 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes---at least, until rice is tender.

It really is beautiful, thanks for the background story on it. So it only took you 40 years to use it!

Are you going to use it more now that its made its debut?

definitely NOT trying to make you feel guilty. I was actually thinking about it as a cultural thing. Like....how often do you see green veggies at a Mexican restaurant?
