If it's really good chili, cornbread is all that's needed.

Speaking of cornbread, I love cornbread, meatloaf and mashed potatoes together.
When I was a kid daddy used to eat cornbread and buttermilk a lot. Break the cornbread up in a glass and pour the buttermilk over it.

I dated a guy that ate it just like that. Only he broke it up in a bowl and poured the buttermilk over it, eating it like cereal.
The Cracker Barrel at Tulsa Hills (one of the better CB's), has a tasty meatloaf dinner and I usually have it with cornbread, mashed potatoes, and turnip greens.

Oh yeah. I get the meatloaf lunch special there a lot. You can get it any day of the week and it's just $5 and change. I get it with mashed potatoes sometimes, a salad other times, and pinto beans and cornbread.

Monday I made a 5 days of Jar Salads for 2. Then in the evening made a simple low carb meal..I did try a new recipe this week...cauliflower bread sticks...they are good although the cauliflower tends to overpower the cheese...still good though because we like cauliflower...tonight is tuna salad and those bread sticks...If you have not tried jar salads I would advise them...they have stayed fresh up to 7 days and probably beyond but the longest we kept one was 7.
Secondly it's great knowing you pave a great healthy meal already prepared for each day...thirdly it removes temptation that often accompanies cravings and asking yourself, What do I want today....

I like chili over rice...grew up when money was scarce and rice could make a little go a long way...still love rice though I rarely eat it.

I've eaten at several CBs in the South & Midwest. The best ones are mostly in the South, but my favorites are in Rockford, IL, and Memphis, TN. I guess they search for and hire real Southern cooks.
But the one in Belleville, Michigan is junk. Ugh! How they can mess up good food is a mystery.

MICHIGAN. Northerners trying to make southern food.

Just picked up some Fried Lake Trout from the Seafood Restaurant in the "hood" for tonight...I'll just steam some Broccoli to go with.
(Nobody can do lake trout like they do it in the "hood.")

Thing is, we (Michiganders), have large numbers of transplanted Southerners, but none of them work at the Belleville Cracker Barrel.
