Thread: Do you shop at Aldi's?

    Do you shop at Aldi's?

I've noticed that I've been stopping there more and more lately as they've had some really good deals on their dairy and produce items. In the last week, at least in Metro Detroit stores, milk is going for $1.45 a gallon and large eggs for 69 cents a dozen.

They even have some really neat gardening items too. I had already bought this plant stand for $9.99:

...and a few days got a two-pack of obelisks also for $9.99:

I only shopped there once. They were totally out of milk, so that is an inconvenience for me. Also, there was the no credit card issue. We do all shopping by credit card. At the time I was going to Sam's first then WM Neighborhood Market for the rest. If I went to Aldi before WM, I would still have had to go to WM. I can no longer do the multi store thing. At that time I was doing my shopping monthly except for things like bread and milk and any produce we were out of. Also, there are some items I will just not buy in store branded products.

I was thinking after several days of the WM thread going on, Aldi isn't even an American company. I guess all those who so despise WM like having their money end up in Europe, or is Aldi in the US a totally separated entity?

Hmm...maybe that's why I've been shopping there more, as of a couple of months ago they started accepting credit cards. I know in the past if I made some purchases not on my shopping list I'd have to stop and think if I had enough cash on me to cover it.

It would have been hard for me to figure out the cash to take since I was shopping monthly at that time. Now and then I consider going back again but it just wouldn't be practical since I buy toiletries and everything in one trip. When we lived at our other house, we received their ad in the mail and it always looked enticing.

I love to shop at Aldi. It's about 15-20 minutes from the house, so I don't get there as often as I'd like. I went to the Farmer's market this morning.

You can be enticed again by viewing their weekly ad online. ;)

    Cool

I read they are going completely Organic on their produce, eggs, and other foods. I went there about a month ago, but They still had the same no-name products in the store. When I learn they've switched to Organic, I'll go back. :-)

My favorite stores for food is Whole Foods (my boycott of them is over), The Fresh Market, Sprouts, and Natural Grocers. For paper goods & items like laundry & dish detergent, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree. :)

WOW, I'm glad to hear someone else shops for laundry and dish detergent, etc. @ Dollar Tree.

Some of my friends turn their noses up when I tell them I buy detergent, greeting cards, office supplies and other paper products and odds and ends from Dollar Tree.

I even buy (name brand) soap, bubble bath and (name brand) toothpaste there - Not to mention things like alcohol, witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide and nail polish remover.

Due to allergies, I go thru a box (or two) of tissues a week, so why would I pay over $2 for one box of Kleenex, when I can get a box of Scotties for a dollar? We're talking something that I'm gonna blow my nose on and toss anyway.

(However, the only "food items" I buy there are Hunt's ketchup and Arizona iced tea - I'm not too keen on "off-brand" food)
