I dunno that anything happens...it's the same with bananas. I love the smell of both bananas and cucumbers, but when I eat them I just don't like the flavor.

We grow cucumbers and I absolutely love them. I will say though, that they taste 100% better, fresh off the vine. 100% sweeter. Last summer, whenever I'd pick one off the vine and bring it in and immediately consume it, I couldn't get over how sweet it was. Could be the variety, but it wasn't anything special. My husband agreed with me.

The fresh Kale goes either in the crockpot or a dutch oven with sweet onions, smoked turkey or ham, salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash, red pepper flakes, a pinch of sugar and some chicken broth.

Just let it cook down for a few hours, and it's DEElicious.

(I also toss a couple handfuls in with my Cabbage when I cook it too - Gives it an extra boost of Vitamins)

My SIL used to own a hydoponic greenhouse where she grew tomatoes and English cucumbers. I tried one of those right off the vine, and it wasn't unbearable, but I still didn't enjoy it.

I like some sort of dressing on them, I don't eat them plain. Put some ranch on them and try it again.
