    Grillers, Smokers and BBQ'ers

Ok, who grills and/or smokes in here??

My wife saw me laboring (with iced tea sitting in my lawn chair) smoking up some pork butt burnt ends on Saturday...with my little Chargriller barrel grill and hollers out at me, "get over to Tractor Supply and get one of those pellet smokers!!". They were on sale at a crazy low price and only two floor models left.

    Here it is:

After a break-in session yesterday, I tried the grill function and had some BBQ simmered scallops. Yum. Can't wait to do me a 5hr brisket or butt.

We finally pushed our Traeger to the curb this spring... it's a pellet smoker. We replaced lots of parts... the more moving parts, the more that can go wrong. The last part was the thermocouple for the third time. Scott was done. Good luck with yours!

I was leary of the pellet stove concept from the start but when my wife said the tractor store was lower than walmart... now I have one. Years ago our home was heated by a pellet stove and in reading of problems, the auger/motor can be problematic. So far, so good. This week I'm going to give it a go with a smoking task.

Make sure it's dead before you eat it.

I'm sure it will be fine... :) We just had the traeger for quite some time. And truthfully, I did most of the smoking, which I found slightly annoying because Scott bought it for himself. The reality is that his job just doesn't allow him time for any other activities. Although, God is starting to untangle him from that a bit. We will see how things walk themselves out for the rest of the year.

I'm sure the Lord has good plans for Scott and I wish him Godspeed. I'm assuming the bugs got worked out for the Even Embers units. The uses for them are many and various. Just snagged a digital meat temp probe so to take guess work out of the cooking. This weekend I'll get some smoking time with it.
