The words may differ slightly (as the church names have) but the teaching of the Church I was saved in was along the lines of the current ACC statement that "We believe in the premillennial, imminent and personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to gather his people to himself". (
ACC | Doctrinal Basis). As most of us at the time were young adults becoming first generation Christians we were taught a little about such things, about lots of things actually, but, not unexpectedly, teaching has all but drifted away.
Such a belief can lead, it has been suggested, to a bit of self centeredness. For hundreds of years now people have been saying that THEY are the last generation and Jesus is going to come and take THEM away. At the same time THEY don't want to go through any type of tribulation. They have been wrong.
Post postmillennialism makes more sense to me. One
site suggests that "Most postmillennialists are either preterists or historicists" but I don't know enough about the subject to know if and where I fit there.
"Such a belief can lead, it has been suggested, to a bit of self centeredness."
IMHO all beliefs can be spun by human flaws within...not sure that should ever be part of the debate.

LOL....truth is this can be helpful if one is listening to discern. The Holy Spirit taught me that in linear debates of either/or listen for a third option outside of the realm of human reasoning, always.

I'm not frustrated my dear brother. Just trying to provide you a venue to express your thoughts on the scriptures and provide some comic relief at the same time.

It isn't for YOU to provide a venue to express my or anyone else's thoughts. This is my thread. I am providing a place to read and listen to the TRUTH about the coming days. You my friend need a dose of humility. I have been on this forum for 15-20 years.
I have no desire to repeat my view so I will put on here a simple explanation of Matt. 24.
