Thread: Fallen Ministers - Entitled to Full Resoration?

  1. #21
I didn't post in the other thread because I don't know anything about Todd Bentley.

On this topic, as a general whole, I think we need to give grace and mercy where Jesus did.

Most certainly a *fallen* minister can be restored.

First, nobody said feelings trump truth. I was tired when I posted, so I may not have said it in the best way.

Sin does have consequences, I tell people that all the time. The murderers, rapists, swindlers and every other person in prison needs to finish their sentence and when released, start a new life. The point is, they get to start a new life IF they have truly repented, gone through restoration, stay accountable...... the ones who do, succeed, the ones who don't, end up back in prison.

SO. David's son died because of his (David's) sin. Even when David was confronted, God didn't remove him. You might argue that not everyone called of God is a David. I suppose, but the word says that Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

I'm just not sure why you believe there needs to be a lifetime sentence for those who morally fail. If they're unrepentant, sure. But if they ARE now walking a Godly walk then ???????

Oh, oh, oh ....... and then there's the Scripture that says that we overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.

The blood either covers or it doesn't. God either uses our testimony or He doesn't.

And like I said in the other thread, in September I'm going to a weekend thing where Todd Bentley is the speaker because I want to see for myself. I'll report back, if anyone even is open enough to hear the truth, which ever way it goes.

I'm not going to argue about this any longer. That's why I closed the other thread, with permission from Krys, not a misuse of my Mod status, I might add.
Well, I think you are being overly dramatic with the life sentence thing as if the saint must toil in misery for the rest of his/her life. No one has suggested perpetual sack clothe and ashes. Ministry is a privilege, it's not an entitlement and if one can't abide by the fairly light yoke of decent behaviour prescribed in the bible they shouldn't be in the pulpit, that privilege is revoked. That's just bible AJ, not some weird theology.

If someone is a failure in ministry maybe you'd be acting in love by releasing them from that, it is a good indication they weren't called to begin with. Something was missing, be it gifting, calling or character, why expose them and others to more pain?

If TB had been in a denomination, this wouldn't even be up for discussion. What we are discussing is a Charismatic phenomenon. When a charismatic has a big fall, there is no real accountability system in place to pull credentials. Many just hop back up and carry on as if betraying the person you made vows to before God meant nothing. Not to mention their children.

As John said, the plan of God does not rise or fail on the shoulders of one man.

Nor does it prosper only if that one man is removed forever.

As we all know, Catholic priests aren't allowed to marry and cases involving Catholic priests have typically involved raping children, at least in the statutory sense. That's a criminal matter, adultery isn't.

Some charismatics follow a deeper revelation, a man who junks his wife and 3 kids for a newer, sleeker model has the anointing of David.

Another sad example of "even the heathen know better". I'm kinda tired of people rationalizing/spiritualizing rank sin, it's pathetic.

Actually, adultery is illegal in 21 states.
