I think the high end scanners are starting to drop in price, they have some really good diagnostic tools but way too much expense for this shade tree mechanic.
I have a Fox handheld scanner a few years now. Was only 75.00 at the time and has far too many functions for me to use. Handy for that check engine light and buying a used vehicle to see old issues that weren't cleared.
