    Clear conscience starts with Repentance

"Let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven and say, 'We have sinned and rebelled'" (Lamentations 3:40-42a NLT, second edition).

The path to a fresh start and a clear conscience begins with repentance. First, review every area of your life, and then repent of every sin.
Rrepent means . First, you take responsibility for your sin. Second, you turn away from those things. And third, you turn toward God and his grace.

The Bible says, "Let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven and say, 'We have sinned and rebelled'" Lamentations 3:40-42

Repentance does not mean rationalizing your sin. You don't say, "It was no big deal." It was a big deal, or you wouldn't have remembered it. You don't say, "It happened so long ago" or "It was just a stage I went through" or "Everybody does it." It doesn't matter! You cannot rationalize sin, minimize it, excuse it, or blame others. That is not true repentance.

The greatest holdup to the healing of your hang-up is you. You're not waiting on God; you're not waiting on anybody else. God wants to heal the hang-up in your life, but the greatest holdup to your hang-up is you.

The Bible says in 1 John 1:8, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us"

You will stop defeating yourself when you stop deceiving yourself. It all starts with gut-level honesty and recognizing that something is wrong, no matter how much you want to rationalize it and excuse it. You need to admit it, confess it, and get it out of your life.

Depends on how long ago that's been. Things we don't think or consider a sin may be a sin to God. It's called sin of Omission. Mainly with our thought life. I don't believe anyone can go all day without doing something that breaks God's heart, even in some very small way. I know when I have had a thought cross my mind or allowed myself to get disgusted with something, not always someone I know it immediately in my Spirit Man. That's when I get it taken care of. Just a simple " Father that was not the right thing to think or say or do, and I'm sorry that I have grieved your Holy Spirit. Forgive me. I just simply try to practice the presence of God all day long. I involve him in things I do, whether it's doing laundry, cooking a meal, running the sweeper, or etc. I carry on a dialogue with him off and on all day long. When I feel an unsettling in my heart ,I know where to go to get it taken care of and repented of. That way I don't have to take all of my prayer time repenting when I pray over the needs of others every night before I go to sleep. Just my opinion, but I believe we know when we have sinned. Sin doesn't come in Large, Medium or Small. There is no such thing as a little white lie. Sin is sin no matter the size or what it is, and a lie is a lie and has no color. Even making excuses could be considered a lie, if only to yourself. That's my thoughts anyway
